made a logo for a friends portofolio, his work will mostly contain motion graphics. What do you think?

difficult to see - it is a bit small, but i think you need to do some more work on the curves in the FS ligature.
and make FS and suspended more balanced. FS is too big, or suspended too small.

i know i haven't worked on the curves yet, but i wanna know if there's a future for the logo or not before i fully work it out.

It looks like it could be for anything and seems to be more 'stylistic' than 'designed'.
With a word such as 'suspended' and the idea that it needs to represent the work of motion graphics i think you've missed the boat. It's way too static...the word and icon look separate from one another. I'd ditch the icon and design around the word.
just my honest opinion.

Bluejam is right. in your place i'd try at least 3 different solutions. and with "suspension" the mark would work well over the logo and not on the left.
you also duplicate the "S" on the mark. why not convey the sense of suspension graphically with no type? it's difficult but the effects are always better when you quit using initials. that's only my op.
also, mark and logo must each work on their own.

It may be more advantageous to work on the logotype for now and leave the symbol behind.
After the type is more fully developed, a better symbol representation may present itself.just my horribly humble opinion.

The letterforms might benefit from being a little more integrated. It's interesting, but it needs to read faster.
