Whats the atmosphere like where you work?? For me it's shite, and very uninspiring.......

It's relaxed for 4 weeks. then manic pressure for 4 weeks. realxed for 4. pressure for 4.
It's the general cycle of
the magazine

Inspiration for work is a funny thing. It happens without warning. My working environment isn't always ideal
I'm much more likely to be inspired on the way home or most anoyingly just as I'm gonna go to bed.
then I can't sleep because of the idea and have to get up and have a scribble before I can sleep.

Today is Prog Rock friday, so atmosphere going pretty damn good.

People pretty much suck, no one seems to care about quality.
Our computers suck. I am stuck with a fucking 500 mhz G4 from 1999 doing lay out, illustration and heavy Photoshopping.
Good thing is that I have a big ass stereo and can play pretty much whatever I want.
And... the coffe is free.

I do do enjoy having a monthly salary but the ultimate goal has to be doing something more meaningful than working with morons and making magazines.

The salary is amazing, but the atmosphere is definitely not where I want to be at my age. Everyone is old & the job is very serious. There are strict dress codes & silly company policies. There are only three illustrators at TRU, and I'm far away from the other two in a dinky little cubicle.
I swear, I'd love coming to work more if we could just tear down these walls & work together.

i thought about rearange furniture orientation to change rutine atmosphere...
am i going to transform into a housewife?

Lots of people doing nothing, but pretending to work.
This environment is such a waste, I can see roughly 15 people from where I sit, all doing nothing
No music, no atmosphere, the odd discussion about football, temperature rises when bets are made. The only one smiling is Marios (He's greek).
Its a shame, my old Director is a greek, and he has millions and millions in the bank - if he was still here I garuntee we would be in the pub, where he would put his Black Amex behind the bar, and we would be celebrating through until dawn

Id love my own cubicle.....be brilliant to get a bit of privacy....
People here are older too, and I have absolutely nothing in common with anyone....
Topics of conversation are either babies or mortgages...

Me and my CD are not getting along!! :(

Freelancing from home studio... quiet / relaxed / boring.

our place used to be real cool...small outfit, everybody knew each other, 4 o'clock on friday was beer o'clock etc.
in the last couple of years the company added 20 employees, moved out to the sticks into two seperate buildings and seperated us oldtimers to 'oversee' the new peons. since then, everybody's put on their headphones and the joy has defintely left this place. we get more done but...

so horizontal it's laid back!
