start with a gas card. they rarely turn those down and it does count for something.
i was told that Shell is a good one...reports often.

Nic, the bottomline is you want a card that will keep your APR% at a minimum and to be honest the best rate that is going around is like 9%. Companies will entice you to join at 0% for so many months but that doesn't mean it will stay there and they you have lets say 3K worth of debt at an APR of 17%. That will catch up with you. Home ownership, etc. is a good idea like you were talking about the other day. Build up your equity.

"Yeah, for sure, thanks for the info.
I'm gonna go talk to my bank people, cuz this is crazy. I must have applied to 5 or 6 different cards. I got denied on all of em...
And no student loans or anything, I don't owe anyone. You would think that would be a good thing.... "

A good piece of advice is to never carry over more than 50% of your credit line from month to month.

jevad...I just use my credit card as a backup... I never have debt on it for more than a month so i hardly pay interest on the money spent. No annual fee..... So basically it is just like an advance loan you never have to apply for.
when i graduated college i got my 1st one with absolute ZERO credit from wells fargo, 1,000 line. They bump it up every 9 months or so. As long as you have a checking account they hook it up. Credit Unions are even better.
You should be able to get one easy. I just never spend on it unless i know I'm getting paid soon to pay it off. Just my advice. I can't stand paying interest.

AMEX black card
are these things real ? what kind of balance do you have to have in those things
i actually have REALLY been happy with my Bank of America Visa, and AMEX blue
also Citibank MC, but just make sure no matter what, you understand the APR shifts past the promotionals..........many banks right now have starter 0% APRs with low rates a year after.........building more credit with your bank is always a good idea IMHO

I heard that to get an Amex Black you have to be INVITED. And when you've been invited, you're required to put like $100G's on it per year, otherwise they take it away. I suppose you are pimp ASS if you have wunna them.

"Upgrades to the Concorde at no additional cost with the purchase of a full-fare, first-class transatlantic ticket to or from London and any British Airways gateway in the United States"
Werd 2 that! If the Concorde was still flying that is.

CapitalOne i got a platinum card when i was only 20, college student, and had no job. lowest rates i've seen yet and haven't had to pay any fees

it really doesn't matter what the APR is if you don't carry a balance and pay quickly.
i'll intentionally pay for something with a credit card and the next day, when it shows up online, i pay it right away.
they get a good record and i don't get the finance charges. pain in the ass, but it works and my credit is awesome now.

amex black is also called the diamond. i've seen one only once, and most people who have that kind of account request a green card anyway. more discreet.
no spending limit whatsoever, ass-kissing galore.

you have to spend at least $150,000 (or 250,000) a year to be eligible for the card and you can't apply for it, AmEx contacts you about it
