discover sux. do NOT go with them.
Fleet is pretty good and CITI is not bad. I get sent all the time 0 interest until whenever 05 and 0% on balance transfers until whenever 05. Most rates should be around 8% - 10% tops fixed. I've got one for 7.9% and 6%.

amex is the shit if you can pay it off every month. for runnig tabs citi is good. citi loves me thanks to the college days

no matter what you start out with.... if you rack some money up on it... transfer it over to a 0% transfer deal.
then pretty much you never have intrest... it rules

National City is pretty cool, more laid back then Citi. Chase is also good, use them for my business stuff.

Get one through your bank or credit union. They have the best rates, and most of the time they are free, no fees, as long as you pay off the balance.
I have one with Wells fargo and there is no annual fee or anything that sucks. Plus, at your own bank it is easer to transfer funds, pay it off, etc.

be very careful when you start using it. credit cards are evil, as many of us here can attest. watch those hidden fees, late fees, transfer fees, etc. and dont buy things you cant afford!

Fleet is good. I had a really nice Sony Visa in college but the rate sky rocketed.

dude, discover is shit cause they're rates are wack high. i've been with them for 6 years, missed one payment now i'm fucked at 15.99%. they refuse to lower it because i missed one payment in my broke ass days 4 years ago. sorry asses don't know i'm brining a 0% balance transfer on them and then im dun with them forever. they suck.

So interesting thread- I can't get a credit card. Nobody will give me one cuz I "have no established credit".
25 y/o without any debt, and these fuckers (citi, visa, etc) won't hook up a card. I'm stuck with just my check card.

I use the AmEx Blue card, cuz it looks so damn cool. That's the only reason I got one...
Your local Credit Union might be a little more willing to start up a credit card for you.

ric, do you have a car payment, or a student load? i just got a $5000 credit limit with wachovia, 4.9% apr.
I just started with credit as well...i also have a amex, blue...and a a capital one.
capital one always gives cards, they only give you about 200 bucks tho...

one mastercard and one amex. use them sparsely and don't carry a balance.
i hate credit cards but when i checked on my credit in january, they said i needed to start using them. i have a high score but it should be much higher - they want to see you manage money on a constant basis.
nothing brings up your credit quite like a mortgage, but you need credit to get it ;)

And no student loans or anything, I don't owe anyone.You would think that would be a good thing....
