before Dinkification, i'd like to say a few things..
I love Michael Moore.
And I will tell you why: His books, his films, are all very-well researched pieces, full of nutritious facts about our loverly country. There are many people in this world like me.. people who don't read newspapers, don't watch tv.. and who generally aren't really in-tune with current affairs, especially those of the US.. before I read anything by MM, it was only a strong gut feeling that made me hate GWB.. MM gives us a nicely bundled package for us to take in and digest. It is up to you to dig deeper after watching his films or reading his books.. Taking his point of view for the absolute truth is just as dangerous as doing the same with GWB.
The comment about the Republican Congressman or whatever.. that shit makes me sad.. I wish MM wouldn't have done that. But I'm sure he did this to make a point, not to prove one.. This is where his stuff stops being Journalism, for me. But nevertheless, you can not argue with his facts.. and you can not say that he offers no solution for the problems he talks about.. Ever read his books?
hope this made a lil sense to yall.. but all to say, MM is needed. I just wish there were more MMs out there, asking the questions that need to be asked.

to the asshead who said Michael Moore is not a documentarian,,,,i think you should check out a book on the history of the documentary film, then watch some documentaries. check uout frederick wiseman first, then domr vintage March of Time newsreels, maybe some Leni Riefenstahl, some John Grieson...etc...they are all different types of documenary, but never the less, they all use editing to sharpen the message and yes, they mildly warp some information for effect but the major point is...
ask a question or pose a view point and follow it, see where it goes....you might get some answers

Exactly loudubs. The bitches who go on about how MM lies and twists facts piss me off too. It;s such a stupid pointless argument to attack him with. They go on about the truth and attack him for being cinematic. For giving his movies a heart and soul - a deliberate perspective.
The facts are already out there. Noone's given me any convincing evidence on anything MM's supposed to have lied about, except these stupid right- wing websites that are using the exact same manipulation of the message they claim MM is using. It's a fuckin war in the media - a war OVER the media.
In my whole (short) life i've never seen a government so obsessed with controlling the message like the Bush governement. . Its scary. It's how they got this alcoholic crackhead texas hick elected. And it's how they been running the country ever seen. Controlling media acess during the war, promoting stories like that chick who got captured by the Iraqis and got rescued. Everything Bush does or says is managed in this PR project - like his flying that jet and landing it. You're not even allowed to show coffins of the dead soldiers. Fuckin Bullshit. And why was Bush's questioning by the 9-11 committee done in secrecy? To control the message is why.
If all you're saying is that MM uses the same tactics, then fuck u. A documentary is not a fuckin journalistic newreport. You see CNN? You see FOX? BBC New 24? That's what journalism on TV/Cinema looks like. They're not documentaries - they're news. MM doesn't make the news - he makes documentaries.
Facts don't mean shit. It's the position u take on them that matter. MM 's films aren't about showing u the news report - but he's offering u a highly personalised subjective interpretation of those facts. And we need him and more like him to combat this culture of autocratic governments run by Spin doctors and PR gurus.
