bizzyman, why dont you read what the artist had in mind, about his rationale behind the series instead of starting a rant thread about why you think it should not be shown here and then coming back ranting about people ranting with no 'facts' when your initial rant had no back up other than your fascist conservative brain didn't like it.
I wouldn't like to live in your world.

lowimpakt... should this 'taboo' be normalised though?
I guess I can understand 'rationalization' in your personal life... if that's your bag - then go for it... but 'normalizing' something like this a little extreme... don't you think?
Where is Cindy Sherman's stuff? Is it of a hardcore nature as this?

rasko.....wuurrrrd !

anyone been to that restaurant in covent garden? I think it's round there - has hard-core porn murals on the walls of the toilets! Always fun to take you mother there.... Foods a bit bland though.

well there is a line. but that line has a lot of shades of gray which are based on norms and values as well as cultural backgrounds and even religious backgrounds. actually it's not a line it's a flexible zone. a line is really black and white. but thing is in the end someone will always be offended. there is not other way. hence the elevator music reference. no one likes it but every one can sort of tolerate it but it's very blend and not outspoken. and sometimes it's good to push that line, to provoke. it's healthy for discussions you know. can't find the link anymore but there was this girl who photographed couples just after they had sex. less explicit as ashkan's work but still in a way porn. do you see that still as porn or do you see it as art?
"What if that was your sister on there?... or mother / father?"
this has nothing to do with the discussion. what if i wouldn't mind? what if my girlfriend is a pornstar and i'm fine with it? what if i don't have a father? what if? that's all personal. has nothing to do with it being art or not.

rasko - a rationale is one thing...
... but CUM ALL OVER PEOPLES FACES AS ART?
There's no rationale for explicit sexuality being made public like this... it's too personal and shouldn't be as open.
There's nothing 'genius' about it.. there's nothing a person can glean from it - other than the fact that it's okay to be as explicit as you want and not care about those who may be HARMED or offended by such a thing.
It's selfish to share this type of thing so openly. This is just a little bit on the private side of 'human nature.'

i might like to think i have an open mind but i would have a hard time dating a porn star...
what makes intimacy intimate, is that not everything is shared with the rest of the world.... you reserve something for someone you love.
Would I like my g/f to pose for such a shot? No.
- ********0
it's art, it's just a bit of a cheap shot though - excuse the pun.
- lowimpakt0
moth, chances are if your g/f would pose for such a shot she wouldn't be going out with you. I can't imagine they are the type of people who can be controlled to easily. ;))))
- ********0
well yes...!
- rabattski0
it's just a matter of taste.
that's all there is to it.
"too personal" is subjective as hell. long long long time ago showing your real skin was too personal. and how about burqas?
- rasko40
Firstly; I dont think this work is particularly good either technically or conceptually for what it's worth. But I dont think you can stop people creating what they like based on merit.
the work relies I think quite heavily on controversy, and in this case you appear to be the microcosm of the media, fuelling exactly the sort of publicity work like this often feeds off so congratulations haha.
I personally dont see how this can 'harm' anybody, if the series had been entitled 'wallpapering is messy' maybe you wouldn't feel so offended.
How can it be selfish to share? These people volunteered to appear and its not as if they are going to appear on billboards as GAP ads around the world, they're in galleries.
- abizzyman0
rabattski - I agree that this is subjective
A long time ago - yes.. even skin was very personal - but shouldn't there be an intimate stopping point?
The porn barrier was broken way back then too...
I believe in free will and the right to make decisions - but I'm still talking about what's appropriate for the NTB.
I could switch arguements to something non-personal...
.. wouldn't a link like that be dangerous for many to view at work? Perhaps the link should have something so simple as 'explicit imagery' next to it.
- save0
if your easily offended why the fuck click the link??
bellends...
- Peter0
I've seen better cumshots
- pascii0
the photography is really not outstanding. it is okay.
i would rather ban all those lean-addicted models. but hey, it's freedom of speech.
so if you read cumshot - don't click it.
- silencer0
I'm sorry but it looks like a student art show. Photos of people on drugs.... what an original concept. and the cumshot one? Weak.

Even having red what the artists was up to I still don't see the "artistery" with these pics. They are lifeless and boring if you ask me.
- lowimpakt0
oh and abizz. I think my interpretation of normalise is different to your own. I think Sahihi lifted a massively weighted image out of it's 'normal' context and projected into a new 'normal' context i.e. onto your sister, mother uncle etc. If that spurns anything in your imagination it should be reflected the next time you happen upon a hardcore image. Maybe a little trasposition of the normalised image will replace that of the soulless pornstar with that of a real person maybe even your sister or your mother. Maybe he wanted to spurn this transformation in people so that they view pornography as something real and not an objectified spectacle. Yes I know its harping back to the early days when it was believd that art could/should affect the morality of the masses etc etc. and i'm too cynical to follow him but the notion that these images are harmful is dangerous in itself. I haven't even sat down to consider these images but that was my initial reaction anywayz.
maybe next time if the link says CUM SHOTS don't click it...........
- pascii0
i', all red on my ears now.
