all who wanted to emigrate, have already done that. so theres not going to be a massive immigration from eastern europe.

Just curious.. have prices increased on basic goods like food, beer exc... Since the accession?
I’m traveling to Warsaw, Budapest, Vienna and Prague in June.
- DanielLaskowski0
I don't know, enviro - they were suppose to, eg there was this big rush (in Poland) for buying sugar. Mass hysteria, you know.
You are based in Ny, aren't you - expect cheap food and accomodation, but quite expensive electronics and good quality clothing.
Warsaw is generally much more expensive than rest of the country, but it can be also quite enjoyable. DO NOT take a cab from the airport. The're bloody thieves.

Cool, thanks for the info Daniel, just trying to plan my budget. I’m trying to travel cheap, so my main concern is with food and accommodations. Thanks again

ok don't go for 'the best' hotels then. As I said, at times Warsaw can be pretty expensive. Once again - take a bus to the Centrum, instead of cabs. F***n' bastards they're charging unaware foreigners something like 20 times normal rates. F***n mafia.
Oh, and watch your wallet, mate
One more point I have to make: Polish girls are the most beautiful - and as an American you'll have them all. We Polish all love America.
have a good trip.

few months ago we "imigrated" from Los Angeles to one of those new EU countries - Slovenia (not Slovakia!) Cool place. Love it.
People are fun.
We are just having 10 days of concerts etc. sponsored by the city, the summer will be even crazier...sugar prices went up a lot last week but electronics are pretty much the same as in US...Don't know any strawberry pickers but lots of hops to pick. Slovenians love their beer.
Hard to find work here but it was the same in LA. The country is beautiful and incredibly safe.

there was this (other) very nice guy from Estonia on NT a while ago.. what happened to him?
anyway, it's one of my fave eastern eu countries.
really would like to visit!!

nice photos man, what city is that? and how far of a train/bus ride from budapest or vienna?
- DutchBoy0

Estonia utterly rocks :).
Went there for a 3 day techno festival in a deserted fair ground.
They dusted off the delapidated rides and we all went on the (very) big wheel, which had things hanging off it, and not all the supports were there.
It was still light at 11pm, then again at 3am.
We got drunk everynight for about $5, and ate very well - it was hard to spend all the money we took..
The best thing...?
The most unbelievably beautiful girls...oh god, Im gonna cry...I had never seen anything like it, and I doubt I will again.
Estonia means that I will be a happy old man recalling walking round that festival..
Oh god, I better stop...Seriously, a beautiful country, with really positive, real, down to earth people so happy to have been freed from the USSR, just finding their national identity again.
Its totally the jewel of the Baltic and I cant wait to go back.
- DutchBoy0
totally, miko.
by far one of the most civilized and positive former USSR states.
and Tallinn is like a fairy tale! amazing!
- ********0
hehe, actually DutchBoy, its probably Nederlands and Estonia fighting for top spot so far on my travels :).
These places are just so civilised - sure there are the same problems everywhere with Mafia, Politics and rednecks (thise being the 3 main probelms everywhere as far as I can see), but your average wo/man in the street seems so much more content than for example in LA or London, where noone seems happy about anything, and just wants to fight.
- alienmelon0
kranj (slovenia) is about 4 hours from Vienna maybe little more from budapest I think
when they party people roam the streets till about 3 in the morning. Tons of kids on the streets and no cops anywhere.
Strange experience after living in LA.
Here a short spot from last summer
http://www.alienmelon.com/animat…
They are starting cheap flights to the airport about 3 miles from the city now like about 200 euro from London I think
- DutchBoy0
miko, i have to warn about the Netherlands though, it is decivilising faster then you say 'w00t'!
ok that didn't make sense but you know what i mean?
;)
