i go only go my the letter you were sent but...
it says that you signed an agreement when you moved as per the conditions of the apartment you were going to rent before you took occupancy.
so i'm assuming the landlord walked you through the place...pointed out any damage that was caused by previous tenants...wrote that down in the report and in the end you signed it...agreeing to the condition of the apartment.
now...when you ended your lease/agreement i am assuming you didn't go through the apartment with your landlord...going from the original damage list to see what/if there is any new damage caused during your stay....which if there was you would be responsible for.
I'm guessing you guys skipped out without dealing with your landlord in the end because you had damaged the apartment...you probably figured...fuck em, whats he going to do.
I would suggest calling a lawyer...closing your bank account is going to do shit all in your favour.
good luck.

Always take photos of the place before you move in. And for the smell, well.. wtf did you do mang?

Call Judge Judy. She'll kick his a$$. :)
...unless they show photos of how you tore apart the apartment, in which case she'll bury you.
Another point...he would have to take you to small claims court and there's no way he can get that much $$ for small claims. Usually the max is 3 grand or 5 grand.

actually no, we cleaned the hell out of the place, shoveled 3" of dirt that was supposedly "contaminated" by cat urine, paid some company $500.00 to spray the house to deal with the "cat" spray. We stayed out our lease. There was once when I paid rent late, but he worked that out by charging me twice the months rent. He had $1450.00 that was plenty to repair any damages. It's total bullshit.

I hope you've got receipts.
I fought my landlord when I moved out. I totally kicked their ass 'cause I was prepared (and right, for that matter) and they weren't. The least you can do is be prepared to address each claim with facts and evidence to support. The onus is on them to prove their claims, not yours to prove them wrong, but doesn't seem like it's going to be easy.

you're going to the mental institution.

buddy, buttfuck your cat

One time my landlord threatened to do that to me and I cleaned the hell outta the place, made it even better than he did when I moved in.
When i went to get my deposit back, he had left the city! The renting Co. said that I was never registered as a resident and they couldn't reimburse me. they said he was on the run-
The bastard was taking my rent every month for himself and lying to his employer!

sounds like you brought this on yourself. Seriously, how many cats do you own?
- brandelec0
what da hell are you feeding your cat(s)?!?
- swollenelbow0
hhaha dude you had a snake in the master bedroom? what kind of savage are you?
seriously tho, why let this thing go as far as it did, man, for something to be called "contaminated" you'd have to have some pretty gross shit going on. get a fuckin swifter, and some tilex and clean once and a while. if i saw this and you were renting from me, true or false i'd deny you from even filling out the application.
- pascii0
oh shit, you're toast... seid ihr versichert?
- brandelec0
i think you're about to get bumdrilled by your manager and his lawyers

I believe the one word that would best describe your situation is:
FUBAR

We've had the same two cats at three previous apartments and there has been no problems. This is Exaggerated, this is like natural cat spray and he is ripping us off for it. He just keeps jacking up the price because he is a dick. I guarantee that our deposit of $1500.00 was enough to get that place good and clean.
- brandelec0
i think it needed something more than good and clean. it needed repaired and detoxify
- swollenelbow0
hahaha tiger spraying really fuckin smells horibble, like a room full of peet moss! =)
