i go only go my the letter you were sent but...
it says that you signed an agreement when you moved as per the conditions of the apartment you were going to rent before you took occupancy.
so i'm assuming the landlord walked you through the place...pointed out any damage that was caused by previous tenants...wrote that down in the report and in the end you signed it...agreeing to the condition of the apartment.
now...when you ended your lease/agreement i am assuming you didn't go through the apartment with your landlord...going from the original damage list to see what/if there is any new damage caused during your stay....which if there was you would be responsible for.
I'm guessing you guys skipped out without dealing with your landlord in the end because you had damaged the apartment...you probably figured...fuck em, whats he going to do.
I would suggest calling a lawyer...closing your bank account is going to do shit all in your favour.
good luck.
