You claim yourself as a self employed home business on your taxes mate, therefore, you are a business, and just as likely to be audited for it.

hehe.
Adobe has plenty of money to pay it's software designers very nice wages... surely.

Well then next time be the smarter pirate.

how do you know what he puts on his taxes?

So you're a student, I apologize.... you'll learn.

How awfully condescending.
Yeah, if you have a business you should obviously purchase legit software. But c'mon. Adobe make plenty of money as it is.

I don't mean to be condescending, I meant to be honest. I was in the same boat.... I'm finally rid of all illegal software. Its pretty nice knowing I own all my tools and I respect them because they are my livelihood. Any freelancer is a business, and they need to think that way. You are in the same boat as the big businesses and you need to pay for what helps you a long the way... to think you're in some other class because you are an individual is ridiculous, you're fighting for the same clients and the same jobs afterall you should be paying the same for the same tools. imo.

I see what you're saying.. and yes it should be like that. But I know that a lot of people work freelance temporarily (in between jobs) so it's hard to justify paying so much for software that they'll only be using professionally for a few weeks/months. They'd have to up their rate 100% and get no work (because of the price)! Just Quark on it's own costs around £1000 eh? And most people would need final cut pro, after effetcs, illy, ps, flash and dreamweaver on top of that. Yikes.

You learn to budget (i'm still getting there), I've sacrificed the need for quark.... to save that money, as for the others I'm not a motion designer... I mingle mainly in print and web..... certain professions are easier or harder.... but doesn't motion graphics pay proportionally higher in the freelance market (correct me if i'm wrong)?
