So the Supreme Court is reviewing to see if the words "Under God" should be removed from the pledge of allegiance. Thoughts?

it's one of those problems that can be argued forever and beaten to death but in the end don't make a milimeter of difference.

They should remove it, considering it's origins. Also, they shouldn't be doing the pledge in the public schools, that's just fascist.

Agree with GreedoLives
- zeroblade0
they should remove the lawyers.
- slinky0
They SHOULDN'T remove it, considering it's origins.
Find another country if you do not like the principles and beliefs this great country was founded on.

I personally think for history's sake it should be kept, forget about what is real and not.

Just to give some background, not an opinion, "Under God" was added in 1954

methoughts the us dollar says "In God We Trust" innit?

Are there references to religons in foreign pledges? I know there are some European NT'ers

Slinky,
What principles & beliefs?
... Deism?
Our country is made of many religions and non-religions. We don't need governmetns to legitimize religious beliefs.
- Mimio0
Right, The Knights of Columbus aren't our fore fathers either.

There are no pledges in the UK. Oh, some twat at the home office decided new immigrants shud take a citizenship test like the USA and i think they're made to pledge allegiance to the fuckin queen. The Queen!!! I tells ya....
(i might be totally wrong on that one)

Under God, eh?
So, God DOES like to be on top! Poor kids...

I remember having to sit in the principal's office for refusing to say the pledge.
I'm not going to force religion down my kid's throat. I'll teach him what's out there and let him make his own decision. Free choice. Who's to say what is and what isn't? The U.S. Government.

Be in the palm of some fool's hand? To see him obviously framed. Couldn't help but make me feel ashamed to live in a land

personally, i think the entire pledge is a crock of shit. why do you have to declare your love to your country and your flag? no other country in the world is as neurotic as the US about its legitimacy.
i hate the way the word patriotism is used in politics.

You can bet your sweet ass my kids won't be going to any school that makes them 'pledge allegiance' to any damn flag, or any damn country.
Live free or die my arse.
