shit... i liked DC as it was...
now its gonna make its way into walmart... fuck.
- jevad0
oh for fucks sake...great...now even more non-skateboarding tools will be wearing them....welcome to teh mainstream DC - I sure won't be buying anymore pairs...
- Jnr_Madison0
They were shite anyway.
- K_Fresh0
Yup.......DC has been played ever since I saw Fred Durst wearing a shirt. What wrong with the skate industry these days....everyone is greedy, skate shops in malls and trucker hats on 13 year old girls.
Ah well......it comes and goes I guess, but I miss the true days of skatin with friends while wearing torn up clothes and hangin at local shops

Damn, DC Shoes is worth 95 million?
- 2wenty7even0
you guys got it twisted. i work for DC Shoes. Oneil didn't buy us, Quiksiver did. and it was 87 million. nothing is going to change either, you won't even know the difference. did you know Nike owns Hurly? probably not. kid's will never know the difference. the only difference now is that our owners are MILLIONARES!!!! ;)
- Jnr_Madison0
Ha ha.. thats cleared that up!
- 2wenty7even0
...check the headlines
- jevad0
thats even worse.
and hurley is gash anyway - it's the abercrombie and fitch of the 'extreme sports' world.
sell outs.
- 2wenty7even0
i was only using Hurly as an example that most people don't know they're owned by Nike. the product won't change, you'll never know the difference.
don't tell me Jevad that if someone offered you 87 million dollars and you could still run your company the way you want to, that wouldn't take it?
- heavyarms0
I knew Nike owns Hurly. kid's will never know the difference. - Maybe that's the problem.
So what do you do for DC Shoes? That sounds like a fun job. Who runs it anyway. Danny Way and someone else?
- ********0
95 Million! WTF!??!! I mean technology companies aer bought for less than that. huh?
- ********0
just because they bought it doesnt mean that DC shoes is dead, they will keep using the brand. no doubt.
- 2wenty7even0
for sure the brand will still be around.
i do the skate ads that you see in the mags like Transworld, Thrasher, Skateboarder...etc. super fun job. everyone here is cool as shit. it's run by Ken Block (President) and Damon Way (Vice President) Damon is Danny's brother.
- ********0
exactly, it's just that Oneill bought that brand.
- 2cent0
this was the smartest thing ken block could have done...the brand reached a point that there wasn't a whole lot left for him to do.
and it wasn't a full 95mil buyout...the two owners...block is one of them get half the amount now and half the amount in 4 years if they meet numbers set out by Oneil...so they guys who are running it now will continue for the next 4 years atleast.
also...oneils intention is not to come in and pull their weight...they realize that DC is doing well as it is and its the #1 skate shoe brand out there. They're gonna handle it the same way they handle GNU snowboards after they bought them.
i'm interested to see what new venture mr. block will come up with next...remember this is the same guy who brought you DUB, Droors and many other brands he has since sold.
- 2cent0
sorry...i meant to say quicksilver...not oneil.
and i rock Four Star Distributions shit....fuck DC...C1rca is where its at.
