IMHO - just conceptualizing here...
I think DC should pick up Ronnie Creager and give the man a proper shoe - he would fit well on the team ( even if he is a moody and what not ), and as his shoe efforts have not really taken off, he could be given another shot to gain the respect he is due - it seems all other legends and big influences have had their shoe by now

Oh yeah.....and scew DC for having ridiculous pricing on skate shoes. 150 bux? Well...I guess it's every other company as well but when I skate my shoes, they last 2 months at most. They defintely don't cost that much to produce and are just cashin in on skating's popularity at the moment......who keeps it real these days?

i can only speak for Four Star Canada...have no idea whats going on in Cali...but up here they're goin strong...C1rca is the number shoe brand behind DC and Forum is number 2 behind Burton.
and the rumors of FSD selling C1rca off are just that...rumors. I do a ton of freelance for FSD up here so there's no way in hell I'll be rockin any DC's...never really liked their shoes anyway....some of the denim shit is nice tho.

i agree, i think Creager kills it but...he's past his prime. back in the day when he was on Plan B, he was awesome and kids loved him. now, he still rips at skating, but how many kids do you hear saying Ronnie Creager is they're favorite skater?

legends need to get their due...companies showing respect impress me...eg. you don't have to like Natas or Mike V. to respect element guarenteeing them product with their name on it for the rest of their live - they have paid their dues, and they deserve respect ( i'm sure you agree with the respect part )
Creager just seems like a good candidate for DC to do something similar with, but I understand DCs take may be very different with the bottom line
just a quick thought - have fun with the ads mang - sounds fun - i'd love to get paid to lay out a few skate related ads beyond the shops around here
do you have alot of autonomy, or do you have to pass every through like 3 directors and Ken, etc. ?

versa - i see what you're saying. i defanetly agree with you about the respect thing. but like you said, it comes down to the bottom line - do kids want to wear what ronnie creager is wearing or what another skater whos is real popular at the time with kids is wearing. it's like an idol thing to kids. i'm sure you know.

Also, skateboard gear is such a rip these days it's ridiculous. Look at CCS. $80 for a hooded sweatshirt and dumb shit like that. I guess it's only for rich, spoiled suburban brats whose mom and dad buy all their gear.

approval process here is pretty gnarly. i go back and forth with my art director and when we finally have something solid, it has to be approved by our sales dept., production dept., legal dept. marketing dept.,..etc. sometimes it can get to be a real headache. it reminds me of that old saying "too many cooks in the kitchen."

there's this dvd out right now called 'chlorine' about salba and all the gnarly old schoolers illegally riding pools in Cali - it's worht getting SOLELY for the 5 mins you get to watch lance PISS all over everyone else in the film...so much soul....

It wasn't Oneill it was Quicksilver and it was for more then that amount. I have a few friends that work for both companies.
