My god, doing powerpoint presentations has gotta be the worst form of design I have ever encountered. Ive had to do 2 in the last week. and whatever I do, they love. what has this world come to?? thanks for letting vent.

f**king powerpoint is shit. I had to import an swf for a client which wouldn't work at first cos it was actionscripted. Then it wouldn't work on my clients PC (I'm Mac) so I did an animated gif which also wouldn't work until I produced it all on a PC. and then I couldn't overlay text over the animated gif . All this meant running up loads of time on the job which was queried by the client!
Powerpoint is one, lame, limited useless application that people seem to love using! (Except me.)

I just finished a PPT template for a client. 3 pages. and the project took me 5 months! I f**cking HATE powerpoint so don't mention it ever again!!!

well ppt isn't all that, and it wasn't made to look good in the first place i guess, but if it pays the bills then i don't really care.

i love to play around with poweerpoooooint at work and make ultra kitsch presnetation with waves and fades and big arrows and stars and see the face of the people during a meeting thinking ('how my fucking god what is this freak on ??)
i love that ;))
it's so repellent and ugly and useless i have found the best way arounf it : doing the ugliest powerpoint stuff until they allow me to use another fucking tool

It has it's uses for bosses though. And me. I've been paid criminal rates to make these things at the 11th hour. I don't mind at all.

show the client your flash work, always worked for me.

bomy: lmao... that's an interesting solution to get a decent tool and have shitloads of fun in the meantime! you actually inspired me. i'm gonna make the worst powerpoint presentations ever. maybe this should be an online contest.

I just turned down a PPT project last week, doing the backgrounds is the easy bit, it's when they want all the masters set-up that it turns into a pain in the ass, then the fonts render horribly leaving whatever you've done looking like shit. Just say no!
