What's your position on it?
Currently working on a promotion for a UK music store who are opening a new branch. Was thinking of hiring some of those golf sale sign people. I want to use the word 'fuck' but masked out by the company logo. Parts of the 'f' and 'k' will still be visible.
Bear in mind the company is thought of as a pretty cool place to shop. Do you think that would be offensive to many people?

Probably not many but you'll always upset someone. Will it be obvious the word is fuck and not flick etc...?

Fuck, porn, Flash, print, web, broadcast...those are all tools of the trade. They all have their place.
I think it sounds ok to me.

Think about the French Connection UK campaign, with all the FCUK logos.
Everyone thought it was the word FUCK, but the FCUK in essence wasn't even suggestive. 2 acronyms together like that are just what they are.
But if you're doing something that is obviously a cuss word, and part of it is blanked out, that's a different story.
Do you want the store to get business because of fowl language? Or, do you want them to get business because of a catchy campaign that highlights their products and service, as opposed to profanity being the main aspect to lure people?

As rhetorical as it sounds, Emgee has a point. The whole "avoid negative words/imagery in advertising" thing.
What did they think of the concept?

The slogan "get to fuck" will be to attract shoppers to the store but of course the logo will be over the word. The name is quite similar to "fuck".

this sounds like a fucking brilliant revolutionary creative idea. you have once again stepped outside the box. kudos.

Where is QBN to deal with the trolls?

Don't you just love positive feedback? Sorry I even breathed.
I wasn't asking for a crit, merely views on the use of swearing in promotion and advertising.
deepanal? Is that the name you mother gave you? Or what you get from your dad every night?

go for it, if it does create any 'hoo-ha' from 'old twats in the community' its would all be seen as good advertising [for the shops target audience] i think
- fate0
Well it's not like most people are going to go after the creative agency.

A few hundred thousand old age pensioners would disagree. But then again, it's not targeted at them.
