75/95K for being a designer in NY!
Where do I sign up?
- Brooklyn0
Well, this is what I've heard from my Creative Director (like 20 years experience in NYC)... For a guy who's a designer (advance skills in Photoshop and Illustrator...) It's around 35-50K... But when you put in Flash, actionscripting and all that shit... then, depending on your experience, it's around 75/95K... and depending on the agency size too of course...

Do it man!...I moved from the urban life of downtown Toronto where I lived for about 4 years to the beautiful coastal mountains...Whistler, BC to be exact.
I left a very good paying position at a major world wide branding firm for the unknown that awaited me here in Whistler. I would be lying if I said I didn't have second thoughts almost daily before I left...but I did, and in the end I had a lot of people who supported my decision which made it much easier.
2 years later...I am happy as a pig in shit...I basically live at the base of Whistler/Blackcomb mountains...starring at the Peak of Whistler as I type this. I have been back to Toronto twice now and I can honestly say that it no longer feels like home.
And much like you my attitude was that the worse case scenario is that if I don't make it out here and have to go back to my roots in Toronto then so be it...atleast I have the memories of this adventure to last a lifetime.

That's awesome man, I can really admire that! I will go through everything that needs to be talked about with my girlfriend, and then, we'll see if we still want to do the move.
You guys know about EVB in California? Known to be a good firm? Anyone has some experiences with them?

Hey, to add my part to all of this>
I moved to Tampa Bay from Greater Baltimore in July 03 and have been battling a love it/hate it sort of feeling about the new surroundings, but as of recently, everything has been fantastic.
I finally got a great job as a lead graphic/web designer with a very competitive salary and the weather is perfect everyday. So, personally, I think you should give it a chance, you can always do something to patch things up if they dont work out right away. BTW, woodyBatts, where are you in Tampa, and would you ever be interested on collaborating? E-mail if interested.
IM OUT.

Places you shouldn't go to (just personal opinions):
Phoenix, AZ
Denver, COIf you can go Europe. I can't see (other that lack of jobs, maybe?) why you wouldn't want to go to say France.

you lot love a competitive salary
