OH MAN! I just rendered a scene in XSI on the AMD 64 pc with Win64 and it took 15 less time then when i did it on P4...AMD 64 OWNZ ME!.

I don't think AMD did anything special with the 64 other than it being 64-bit
64-bit is normal
and it wont change processing speed over 32-bit
it's just the chips raw power, not the 64-bit-ness.

nice one, i'll make one AMD one day.
i just built mine last week : with a P4 3.0 ghz C and 1 gig of Corsair RAM 4000 , and an Asus 5950 ultra video card , motherboard asus as well P4P 800 deluxe , antec case..
this machine runs perfect.. i'm so happy with it.. i can really feel the boost from the fast bus and the ram, also the HT proc does the work in the bvackground ..
Direct X 9 games are incredibly fast and detailed : i've tried Max PAyne 2 again on this machine ... wow the textures are incredible.. i run it everything maxed out at 1600 / 1280... smoothfor the proc cooling i've used a Zalman 7000 cu.. expensive but worth it.. i've overclocked the proc 'legally' to 3.4 ghz without any problems ;)
question : what is your video card ? have you tried a direct x 9 game to see the lighting effects ? etc .?

cinder + 1. it is not about AMD, it is all about 64bit. Think that you are going upgrade from 16bit windows 3.1 to windows 95. makes sense?
btw, official 64bit windows hasn't been released, yet most of the applications in that platform still runs in 32bit mode. So it is only a passing period, we will see and possibily upgrade ourselves to the new 64bit in the near future.AMD has made the first step building 64bit supported chips, but it is early. We will see numerous movements soon.
btw. happy for you running faster man.

I think you're experience a placebo effect
none of the applications can take advantage of the 64bit yet
funny dude

Supanigga, Its not a placebo effect cause i have 4 gigs of ram, 32 bit cpus don't/can't take davantage anything higher then 2 gigs of ram. The Win64 there is a beta already out there and its pretty great. Trust me no placebo.

seriously guys, no geek talk. just if you are running a P4 and try AMD 64 running illustrator, photoshop after effects even XSI. I don't know if its the OS cause i installed beta of Win64 but man this is sweet. I also heard Intel will be adapting the same AMD 64 technology AMD made cause MS and Linux don't want new standards and rules. I will never switch back to intel:)

The_Man,
I'm curious about the Win64 beta. Is it buggy or does it seems stable? Is this the new version of windows, or just like a 64-bit XP? how much is that AMD processor?
