Agreed it took a bit too long to end, but I'm not about to complain.
JazX thanks for picking me up on the Aragon/Aragorn thing I would have hated to confuse you.

I don't know, I just read that in a Magazine, I never read those books. I was too busy stealing shit and getting beaten up as a kid ;)

I've seen it last night. Two thumbs up! The LOTR trilogy is the new ''star wars'' for 12 years old kids; they will remember it in 20 years.
So, about ROTK, great movie, if you liked part I and part II you'll like part III.
Iam totally addicted, can't wait to get the final extented DVD in november 2004 (?)
The only bad points, in my opinion, is the Legolas slide on the big elephant .... come on ... as annoying as the shield surf in Two Towers ... (see an image of Legolas surfin' :
)A CG (computer graphic) glitch make me jump when Aowyn grip Pippin up on the horse ... like in two towers when Legolas jump on a running horse .... CG glitch
also, you think the movie is ending about 15 times ... but there's always another ''ending scene'' after the one you thinked was the final one :P
but its not so bad points. I give 10/10 to ROTK and 10/10 to the trilogy, Peter Jackson and his team have made an incredible job.
Another thing ... am i the only one that have notice the appearance of this little girl with big brown eye in the three movies ? In the felloship she play a child hobbit, in two tower she is a refugee at the helm keep and she is in ROTK again .... I think its the daughter of Peter Jackson, but iam not sure. anyways ... :P

I wish that reviewer had supplied his email addy so I could flame him.
He writes that review like it was Peter Jacksons responsibility for the storyline/plot. And then takes cheap potshots at New Zealand (like I'd much rather live in San Diego. Yeah right.) and at New Line Cinema.
My guess is he auditioned for Frodo and got laughed off the lot.

wot kind of cock sucker would take pot shots at NZ?
whats 2 hate?
goin tonight, cant wait! :)

simply breathtaking! Amazing job from start to finish and still keeping the whole thing in the right direction. (unlike Wachowski brothers and Matrix) Of course there are a couple of glitches, but come on making this kind of 12-13 hour movie and getting everything done every year for Christmas was an unimaginable job, but he still pulled it off. The battle of Gondor is just simply amazing. I haven't felt this much excitment about a movie in 15 years. It should deserve an Oscar in every category! Even with the prerelease hype, I still feel blown away with the movie.
Go see it, it deserves every second of those 3 hours and 15 mins.

just saw it... and i loved it. i think they could have knocked off about 3 of the 15 endings so that there weren't so many histerical reactions in the theatre every time it faded out in a 'roll credits' fashion only to fade in to another quasi loose end to tie up. george lucas is licking his chops!

for second I though you were talking about me _b_
- shant0
Yeah, that's Peter Jackson's kid.

to say this was anything less than perfect is just plain slander.
okay perhaps the ending lasted 15 mins too long, but it wasn't irrelevant material, it all had to be wrapped up. what's 15 mins in a three movie epic....
5 star brundlefly review.
but what do I know, I am 50% bug.

I loved the movie. It was long and I love long movies. The only thing that I found (a little) annoying was that fact that it seemed as if though the movie would end - 5 different times. I guess this is what some people mean when they say they wished the ending was shorter. However, I loved how it was concluded. It was done well. Some of it was a little repetitive, like when Frodo and Sam make their LONG journey to the mountain, but other than that it was a truly astonishing epic.

And I also thought the Matrix was amazing. A little confusing but I loved all three of the movies. I took some time to look into the philosophy.
- cinder0
THe philosophy of the Matrix??
HAHAHAHA
It's a mish-mash of about 50 different schools of thought and religions all rolled into one.
But in the end - it meant nothing.anyway
Yes, those were Peter jackson's kids.
and if you looked closely you could see Peter on the main deck when they first show the multi-sailed ships sailing- he was whipping soem massive chain thing at the rowers.and one of the main art directors, Christian something was one of thw watchmen at the first signal fire location.

The effects were amazing...and the epic scope and all that...should win Best Picture to pay homage to the entire series.
BUT...reading the book shouldn't be a prerequisite to understanding the movie (I've already invested enough time following this story...plus I'm illiterate)...
The movie was extremely corney in parts...the dialogue, that king chomping on that damn tomato whilst Merry sings to him, etc.
I'm SO tired of main characters being invincible! 60,000 orcs v. a handful of good guys...clearly the good guys will survive without a scratch....especially when they have the convenience of a massive ghost army and giant EAGLES coming to their rescue at the perfect moments. Not to mention one poorly-placed slash of their swords easily takes down armor-laden enemies!
And, yes...too many endings.
Other than that...it's was splendid!

I agree, Peter Jackson should at least win Director of the year if not the entire movie winning a bunch of others. There were so many solid supporting actors in that flick.

Two Towers is on Starz tonight at 9 PM Eastern.
