Very nice ending to the trilogy, although weak in parts.
The eye and the destruction of the eye is a joke. Remember the great image of the eye from the first part... with the walls of flames? Well now the eye is pure comedy.
MILD SPOILER
I also expected Gandalf the white to have at least one of those big historical fight sequences.
There is this henchman of Sauron that according to Gandalf "can't be killed by a living man.... or something like this".... now here I expected Gandalf to show off his skills... and I think everyone else thought so too... unfortunatly the poor nazgul gets killed by a women... because it seems like gandalf really meant... no MAN can kill him.
what a total joke.
I know it must be in the books... but that must be a very lame section of the book
The next problem is that they boldy change the color temperatures every 10 seconds.... they already did this in TT, but here it happens even more often. They let you watch the big war scene for 10 minutes in a yellowish tint... and then... it's suddenly very cool and violet looking.... kind of annoying.
There were a few more things that could have used some tweaking, but I guess nobody dared to change any of the source material... which I respect and besides these problems the film is poor magic.

No I haven't
I knew it had to be in the books, but the scene should have been a bit better set up.
It made the whole theater laugh.... some something wasn't right.

i think they should give people quizzes on the book content before letting them in to see the movie.

it's just a film, artistically it rocks

Puke is a lot of things. You may have heard these words to describe it: vomit, throw up, upchuck, gut soup, ralphing, and barf. Whatever you call it, it's the same stuff: mushed-up, half-digested food or liquid that gets mixed with spit and stomach juices as it makes a quick exit up your throat and out of your mouth.
=) i can't wait to see this.

My favorite line from the review:
"Who built and sustains these mountain-scaling keeps?"

"i think they should give people quizzes on the book content before letting them in to see the movie. "
I think everyone who wants to see it should really read the books first and the hobbit. They're not even that long. But I think some may be dissapointed when they do read the book and find that the movies skip out on some parts or hollywood them up. That's why the extended versions are so good. They pick up on some of that missing magic. All in all... the entire package of the trilogy movies is great.
OMG that is so geeky.

Good God, You guys complain more about nothing than anyone Ive heard.
Geez its a movie... its an awesome movie. Enjoy it.. and move on... Picking apart every llittle thing wrong with something is really gonna wear you guys thin later in life.

if i wanted to see so many computer looking effects i would turn on a game. the effects in those movies (bvesides other things) are just awful.

"Good God, You guys complain more about nothing than anyone Ive heard."
Its criticism of a movie... that's all. If no one critiqued anything we would have more "Dude where's my car" movies out there.
gabriel... think you are right.. that crit has not read the books. He doesn't get it at all! Oh well, typical 2 cent worth crits like usual. That's why Josie and the Pussycats was "the nest block buster." HA

Return of the King is great and epic!
There are just a few scenes and elements that stick a bit out.
The problem here is that it's really easy to take notice when something is not on par, because the rest of the film is truly phenomenal.
All the problems I have with ROTK have something to do with how certain scenes were handeled. I don't believe the book called for an partly comical death of the eye.
So it's a bit foolish to blame me for not having read the books and therefor not getting it. It's defenitly not essential to have read them to enjoy this 10 hour epic.
So don't give me shit for expression my opinion.
Or I'll sing Aragons song.

Just seen it, loved it, except as I think r_gaberz is saying for Aragons song!
Brilliant effects, should win it's deserved best picture oscar.
- JazX0
it's Aragorn I think and does he sing? Maybe I was sleeping
- ER0
he does sing, and it was pretty gay. The ending was too long and wasnt really important to the story. i wish it ended about 15 minutes earlier.
other than that, awsome. very good.
- quamb0
there was heaps of singing in the books. HEAPS.
