Yes that Pana Cam is the shit.
We just shot a feature film with it up in Minnea...
The 24p makes all the difference.

Sorry, but I totally agree.
This drives me absolutely NUTS.
Fix the frickin font man, come on.
If someone has the knowledge to build a site like that, with work like that, they MUST know that the font is blurry when it shouldn't be.F.

reading all this stuff about video frame rates...what about flash frame rates...what's the max for average flash web users?? High frame rates slow down on slower computers right?...anyone?...sort of off topic but...

gotta love the rooster with the cane

Instead of broadcasting here like you're some clever bastard, why not mail the people involved and let them know?
- bug0
How can they NOT know tho...

because it's so much funner to point and criticize from afar!

wait, i don't get the 24 vs 29.97 fps thing.
29.97 looks smoother but 24 more professional? What, how, who?
Are you talking about those rap videos with insane clarity like for instance "pass the courcoisier"?
I don't know anything about this, just curious.

JamesEngage,
people are learning, which is a good thing.
:)

lnu,
the camera I just got, shoots at 24 fps.
this creates a cinematic look for the shot. it takes time to really discern between film, regular betacam or DV footage.
A clear example is watching a reality show, such as Trading Spaces, or Survivor, or any other manufactured crap show. If watch how the camera moves, the pans, etc, it looks really smooth. This is because it is shot at 29.97 FPS.
A film is usually shot at 24 fps, sometimes shot at 30 fps, or other crazy rates. BUT the norm is 24 fps.
A music video, like Pass the Courvoisier is shot at most likely 24 fps. And a shutter speed of 1/500 or 1/1000, or even 1/1500 !
That’s some preferred shutter speeds for rap videos, the chop looks niiiiiiice.
A lot of the crispness you see is because the cameras are insane quality, and the DV or Betacams you see on reality shows are not near that quality. Also, the shots are all tweaked, saturation, sharpness, gamma, brightness, contrast, levels, etc....
Hope that answers your question!

Drama Queen!
:'D
sorry, just had to...

junetic,
i make all my shit at 30 FPS.
i know josh "keynote" davis uses 24 fps, to emulate a film look, but i like 30 personally.
depending on the project i might use 12 fps or whatever... it really depends... some animations my sister and i worked on were at 12 fps i believe, so we didnt have to mke so many frames.

past a certain frame rate, the eye cannot capture the fast fps.
when vid games are like, 250 fps! your eye cant distigush past 100 or somehting like that.. i dont know the official number.
if your flash document is moving around lots of gradients, and images, and complex vectors, even on fast machines the frame rate will drop to 1 or 2 fps depending on the complexity of the animation. on slower machines, it will crash them, lol or bring them to even slower frame rates...

haha 4cY
- lnu0
Thanks derek.
I thought that the human eye could only see 24 images per second, because every image takes 1/24 s fro the brain to process before it can pick up the next. Is that a myth?

*shakes fist at janne for stealing my line
- junetic0
i dont think its nice to crash people's computers...mac's always slow down when viewing high fps(even 18fps) flash files...what's up with that?...i think all computers will crash if you view a 30fps flash file over the net....
- ********0
i usually use 31fps.. dont ask me why.. cuz i cant tell ya
- junetic0
its all a mystery to me...what human eye can see, the web, monitor refresh rate?, processor, mac/pc...what the hell...damn fps...and i thought all those fast ass flash sites used setInterval instead of increasing fps to not crash peoples computers....im lost on this...
- junetic0
oh this thread is about blurry pixel fonts and video camera frame rates....sorry
- Derek20
junetic,
its not nice to crash...
macs slow down fps with flash al the time... i dont know that the specific problem is...perhaps cause the whole mac interface is rendered? by quartz extreme..
not all computers crash with stuff at 30 fps or over...
ive got a compaq, 200 mhz mmx with 64 mb of ram that i test all my crazy crazy shit on... lol
usally it just slows WAYYY down to like, 5 fps.. lol
