lnu,
the camera I just got, shoots at 24 fps.
this creates a cinematic look for the shot. it takes time to really discern between film, regular betacam or DV footage.
A clear example is watching a reality show, such as Trading Spaces, or Survivor, or any other manufactured crap show. If watch how the camera moves, the pans, etc, it looks really smooth. This is because it is shot at 29.97 FPS.
A film is usually shot at 24 fps, sometimes shot at 30 fps, or other crazy rates. BUT the norm is 24 fps.
A music video, like Pass the Courvoisier is shot at most likely 24 fps. And a shutter speed of 1/500 or 1/1000, or even 1/1500 !
That’s some preferred shutter speeds for rap videos, the chop looks niiiiiiice.
A lot of the crispness you see is because the cameras are insane quality, and the DV or Betacams you see on reality shows are not near that quality. Also, the shots are all tweaked, saturation, sharpness, gamma, brightness, contrast, levels, etc....
Hope that answers your question!
