everyone who thinks that tagging is ugly is hereby forbidden to use any grafitti related styles in their designs.
...that includes paint drips, arrows, doo-dads, bits, and all that.
this is why it's 'trendy' - people bitching about vandalism but more than willing to steal styles and ideas for their own work.

tagging is beautiful. especially that ronald macdonald dude.
stoopid fresh.
- sexypixel0
thats silly.
Id love to know how many of you ' tagging is beutifull' people have this on the walls of your living room, on your chairs and on your bathroom walls?i think tagging in public places is ugly, doesnt mean im not allowed use it for clients. thats stoopid

Fuck a Font.
Get yourself a stick of deoderant and a sponge.
Remove the deoderant from the container.
Fill with ink / shoe polish.
Cap with sponge and allow ink to soak in.
If the deoderant stick is too wide, try a shampoo bottle.
Add style and proceed.

my old apartment in chicago had both murals as well as entire walls COVERED in tags from different writers. It was exceptionally beutiful. Almost breathtaking.
Then again, smog is gorgeous at sunset.

sexy - i agree - what i was trying to say (in a sarcastic voice) is that tagging is ugly and rightly outlawed but corporate tagging is ugly and legally encouraged and available to the highest bidder.
- ad10
shit.; i said rightly outlawed. ..anyone know where i sign up.
- enobrev0
corporate tagging? You could rent ad space and put a tag up if wanted.
- BonSeff0
eno, wouldnt you say how writers can just put it down is an art in itself. i mean, like one chance, tear it up and move on.
i can see how a lot of tagging is ugly, but just check 98% of the web and your junk mail

true. the free market is so free.

in sydney if you want to do a piece, you go to the council, offer you're service for some community work, do the work and the coucil will give you a nice blank wall to paint on... designs approved of coarse.. i think thats nice
- ad10
that is nice. but where's the fun in
that??
- enobrev0
Absolutely Bon. It goes far beyond the medium... especially if you're one who refuses to actaully BUY paint.
To wake up at 2 am, put on a shirt and tie, fill a bag up tightly (no rattle) with 8 colors, scope a spot for a few hours, and then actaully perform, while watching and listening the ENTIRE time... Or how about 40 quick spots in a night, with the same tension, just in smaller spirts.
And to sit there and have a conversation with a couple beat cops with all that paint on your person WHILE scoping the spot?
And considering the majority of shit i see on web, print , on canvas, in writing, etc every day which is just plain awful, being 'created' with a small percentage of the heart and pressure involved, yes.. i would have to say there's an artform to it.
Fuck.. I'm getting reminiscent here.

permssion walls are cool. A lot of writers tend to hate on them, but fail to recognize that the existence of permission walls promotes the artform.
It makes that tag on the rusty pole not stand out so damned much.

eno - you right - Art is a good story .

People scribe(scratch) and tag not because they want it to look cool its because they are representing their crew or gang. Now a piece or mural is more of art expression but still has some of the feel of tagging. If you want you can generallize it as graff. But there is a difference!
Now hiphop and tagging i don't think even run together. Most gangsters and taggers I know don't even listen to hiphop but oldies.
