Hey capitalJ!! i like that you are keen to get into this and you don't have that "O it's too late im 35" attitude, it's never too late i say.
My feelings on this though are, you need to learn to have a good eye graphic design before you even start making your graphics move.
Look at as many reels as possible to see whats Hot and for inspiration.
Get a copy of after affects and get learning and get the trish & Chris Meyer books on after affects, they're the best.
College... you dont need it, i've seen alot of people still creating shit after a 3 year course.
I'm mean look at justin harder he never finished college and look where he is in Motion Graphics.
http://www.pixelsurgeon.com/inteā¦O by the way how the hell does a fashion industry PR come to want to do this ? do you know someone who does graphics?.

that's real constructive criticism from someone who has a photograph for a website. Real class.

Damn, it makes no sense. And if it makes no sense, you must acquit.
Look at the monkey, look at the silly monkey!

Lousy Chewbacca defense made my head explode.

Damn that johnny cochrane is good!

"No. It does not make sense. If Chewbacca lives on Endor you must acquit. The defense rests."

i dunno what anyone else has suggested as im too lazy to sift through all the posts, but start with an idea, a sektch on paper, in storyboard form preferably, then get aftereffects, with a book or online tutorial (they arent hard to find) in teach your way through your idea. Its a much easier and quicker way to learn then simpyl try to learn the program.....

I've been using Bryce 5 from Corel. It has some nice 3D tweening things and allows you to export as .avi, .swf and .mov. Awesome!
