That is so lame. They must be hard up for money.
- capitalJ0
wahts lame those are some of the greatest graphics ive ever seen
- Mimio0
You need to see more. The graphics communicate nothing.

i think pinthin was being a bit sarcastic.
how about some animation software? maya & xsi have free fully-functional demos. alot of folks use after effects, and, of course, flash. for free, established software to get you on your way, check these out too:

(also check out film gimp [free video editing sw])

what are you talking about they communicate awsomeness
- Mimio0
Yeah, you're right....I forgot.
- kpl0
mimio, you're being silly.
of course it communicates something. if it communicated too much, it wouldn't be useful clip art, would it.
- Mimio0
I buy stock images, illustrations & artwork all week long for the sole purpose of using it to communicating ideas. Otherwise anything would do.
- kpl0
it's all about fill-in-the-blank.
if you're using that stuff, that's not all you're gonna use. you can use more than one element in a piece.

using stock images from other designers could be a useful learning tool...not so good for commercial or portfolio use in my opinion...its kind of a credibility thing...a lot of people look down on using that stuff...make your own images...
some software to know:
photoshop + illustrator (static imagery)
after effects (animation)
flash (animation)
final cut pro (video)
maya (3d)
quicktime pro (exporting stuff)
discreet cleaner / sorenson squeeze (compression, for web)i believe that after effects is the best tool for compositing animation / video / 3d
take a few courses if you can to learn the tools...read some books...observe
the best advice i ever heard about motion graphics is this:
in a good motion piece, every frame is a beautiful compostion
so graphic design skills are pretty important...type, composition, color, etc.
keep in touch with the people you find to be supportive...there are a lot of naysayers (especially here)
its a lot of work...good luck to you
- instantok0
stock stuff is perfectly valid...nevermind what i said before...just be sure to learn how to make and use your own stuff whenever time / budget allows
- capitalJ0
sorry for asking but what does static imagery mean?
- kpl0
static = not moving
aka still imagery.
- instantok0
oh...i forgot to add...there is a free version of maya which is good for learning (mentioned before) but you cant render anything from it...its all watermarked...so once you get good at you will need the real version...

You do motion graphics with the motion graphics tool.
I think you have to know Adobe.
- mitsu0
sweet! are you going to make 'high-end' sites?
- tymeframe0
i'm confused.
capJ??? I like the website tho. There's some cool motion in there.
