I'm at Pt. VII right now. I think this is the best movie I have ever seen perhaps. And it is a movie...
Great score by Kamen.Has this series been widely seen? What'd you think of it?

One of the best war movies/epics I've seen. My dad sent me the boxed version after he was done watching it.
Unfortunatly I've not gotten past part 6 because our DVD player went on the fritz.
But I have a DVD on my new comp so I'm about to get back into it.It's filmed so well, seems so accurate and the fact that it's over so many hours lets so many things develop that a 1 1/2 hour movie could never do.
It's by all means one of those war movies that makes you feel like you're there.

saw them all on an xbox, watched one every other night or so. brilliant.

bought the boxset when it came out . I find myself watching them over and over again . It is so damn brilliant, the stories, the style of film, the casting, all of it blows my mind.
I would have to say that I watch disc 2 the most . When the airplanes emerge over Normandy in the middle of the night, breake through the clouds into hell in the air. It amazes me that young men, younger than I, sat at the edge of those planes, jumping to save their lives, only to land in a foreign grounds surrounded by enemy in every which way . I cannot comprehend the brutal insanity of that particular night.

ourcommon,
that's the same thing I think. I grew up very interested in military history, my Grandfather was in the Marines for 26 years and got a Purple Heart on Iwo Jima, my Dad was in the Marines during Vietnam.
I couldn't imagine doing the things that they did during wars of that era.
Look at the state of war now-everything watched from satellites, it's so surgical and the news travels so fast.
As brutal and horrific as WWII was, I feel like I'd give anything to be able to go back in time and know what it was like.
Band of Brothers really makes that feeling strong. When they're in the woods in the foxholes, and are just waiting, knowing they'll come under attack at any time-there's no feeling we have now, I think, that can even scratch the surface of what that must have been like.

mg33.
totally . We really have no reference to anything like those times . These were kids, in the truest sense. Im 28, and can't imagine going to live through the madness that was the war . I have a hard time imagining now, even more so 10 years ago When I was 18. B of B gives such an accurate record of these battles, and allows us ( with the help of some low camera angles and sounds I wish never to hear in person ) the reality and horror that comes with war . These days, it;s hard to even think abck to those days, to a war that HAD TO BE FOUGHT - one of the few wars in which our participation as anation was totally needed. It;s not like the wars of the last 20 years, in which the US "gets involved for the fuck of it"WW2 - seems to me one of the very few justifiable acts of participation in a war. We had to fight, for a matter of global security, freedom and the pure destruction of nazi germany.
I have no idea how I got to this point, but I am starting to rant on war, so I better stop before I go and get myslef in trouble.

I'd like to know what it cost to make. As much as a feature film I'm thinking, but I wonder what the return is considering it was for cable and not theatrical release.
