The regular, open-top model feels a bit like a baby stroller to drive. I bet the roadster is even more fun.

Tried to check the site but it kept crashing on me!

Is there actually something smart about it wout?
Or is it just that it looks cool and so on - marketing,,?
- wouterwwvc0

surely they'll need to put in an engine 3 times the size before it is allowed to be imported to the states...

I've got some experience with the standard non-roadster model.
if you use it for it's purpose - city driving, it's great, however if you plan on using it outside, i.e highways etc, it sucks. Full thottle for 10 minutes(!) and the bastard didn't pass 130 km/h (about 75 mph?!) The engine is ridiculously small.
If you just need a city veichle, get a scooter, but if you want a car for road trips, vacations etc there's lots of slightly bigger cars with all the luxury cheaper than that. The biggest mistake with the Smart is that it's too darned expensive. Kinda ruins the purpose, as there's no luxury or anything whatsoever. Okay maybe there's people who doesn't care about that but you're gonna get SO sick of the plastic automatic transmission that changes gear whenever it wants to when running 400 rpms and the steering wheel that's barely attached. Trust me.
But word is the Roadster fixed most of these things, so that would be your best bet I THINK, i haven't driven it.

agree 100% jox.
it's too fuckin expensive for such a shitty car.
i just feel sorry for who owns one.
- cookie0
i want a Fiat xi-9.
Could get one too I guess if it wasn't for the fact that I don't want a car.
hmm. Life. Full of interesting thoughts.

i liked the small Smart, I have driven one for a short while.
As they were cheap and all that, hence a Smart product.
A friend of mine sold hers as as she didn't like the car for long distance driving. It is a city car. Nothing less, nothing more.
Faaast acceleration tho.
I just think the roadster ruins the Smart philosophy a little, but it is a nice piece of plastic, tho.
Would love to try it out soon.
