Life is much more about than just work.if you work overtime for no money you're just plain stupid and deserve no better

i do work overtime dont get me wrong.. but its rare.... i dont mind it..
but i hate the fact that people make working their lives and ruin the quality of life because of it...

yes some.. but most people i know who work the long hours do it because the want to work for the high end ad agencys for the clients they have and the work they could do...
i know of lots of 9-5 jobs they could have that isnt that great of clients and might not be as flashy... and i know these same people could work there for the same amount of money, but they wont because they want the glory and recognition, and to show what they can do.... which isnt a bad thing.. it just sucks that the angencies turn their passion into slavery.
thereby the quality of life for the rest of us goes down because they set the bar for the job... and we have to work harder and live less just to have a job...
the more they keep it up.. the more 9-5 jobs become 9-9

i do long hours cause i enjoy the work that i do, if you think its about the money that you are in the wrong industry.
for alot of us, its about money, and yes money good of course but you gotta enjoy what you do..

by the way, its not just about long hours but quality and skills of designer that also count..
my self dont count shit and still learning alot of stuff..
like any other high end agency, they work their ass off to get where they are now..

you have to enjoy what you're doing but the bottom line is this:
ITS STILL WORK
if you're working you're ENTITLED to be paid for it.
In ANY other industry if you work overtime, you get paid. PERIOD.
These companys have taken advantage of designers (not talking about dna or anyone specifically) for far too long....
They rape and pillage us and we sit there and accept it....why?
cause we need to work..we need money.
we need a fuckin union.
Almost every industry has one.....we need one.

All the people who work there are great, I made some great friends when I was there. Its a thankless, place to work unfortunatly. Management I guess. A good place to build your client list, but not really a long term proposition....as you can tell by their staff turnover. Just be prepared to detatch yourself from your work and not care about it. Shame, coz they have some really talented people there and it could be SO much better.

Can't believe all you lot moaning about overtime... when I worked at companies, the weiners who left work at 5.30 on the dot really were not into their work. And other people wouldn't want them on their team anyway coz they don't pull their weight... I reckon it's much more of a case of doing the shit when it has to be done... and enjoying the quieter times... you can't just turn on your creativity button at 9, and off at 5.30.
