we have the facts.. fockin' rulez.

The song "we look like giants"
I think I've sung the lyrics "God damn the daylight" and "and we learned how our bodies worked"
in my head like a thousand times today. love that song. such a good rythm and energy.

yes we have the facts is probably their best
- sauerbraten0
probably? IS. it's their most true to form. newer stuff is a little too poppy and too studio.
although "We Laugh Indoors" is quite possibly my fav song. ohhh i just about poo'ed when i heard that live.

i'll not have this beautiful thread turn into a pissing contest.
"what a way to cut lenghtwise. "
- unformatted0
who asked you? :P

as far as production, don't they own their studio and everything in it, and didn't they produce Transatlanticism themselves?
hat's off to any band who puts together an album that crisp and produced on their own.

when we laugh indoors is incredible.
but the last song on stability. . .
"suffered a swift defeat.
I'll endure countless repeats.
the gift of memory's an awful curse.
with age it just gets much worse. i wont mind. "ben gibbard is my baby daddy.
- Mario_Hugo0
I think we can all agree that Gibbard is going to be a monster in the scene in a couple years. His voice is absolutely juvenile, beautiful, and perfect for the content of VERY well written songs. I was a DNTEL fan before a Gibbard fan, but I really loved the Postal Service, Death Cab, and All-Time Quaterback. His voice is fucking magic. Been listening to Transatlanticism for a couple months now. Phenomenal album, my favorite songs seem to differ from others in the post.

Death of an Interior Decorator
Lack of ColorAlso, make sure to check out the new Shins. I really like it much much more than Oh, Inverted World.
- Mario_Hugo0
New Shins is "Chutes Too Narrow," btw. best single deathcab song is Photobooth. It's really depressing because I'm personally finding just how true it is. ;)
Great stuff.
- Mario_Hugo0
Depressing isn't the right word, it's melancholic. That's my favorite feeling. Like, pensive thought about sad things with a smile on your face.
- sauerbraten0
mario, Ben IS a monster in the "scene", although he probably won't get to Oberst levels.. he's not going to be on GAP ads and shit, sorry.
btw, check out DCFC along with many others when kexp broadcasts live from NYC next week:

> "it's ok I just really miss the creepy/beautiful sadness of their older stuff."
agreed. 'bend to squares' is unparalleled.

finally got to hear the new album. very nice, but i liked the photo album a little better, but transatlanticism could be one of those multiple listening albums. the new year is an amazing track, great lyrics. yea, i need to listen to it more. maybe right now while i work. any singles comin out soon?
- sauerbraten0
phist, get yer hands on "we have the facts and we're voting yes"
thanks.

the photo album was their strongest effort. Its sounds mature and beautiful. we have the Facts to me...lacks. It just sounds emo.
- BonSeff0
actually it all sounds emo
oh the pain!
but i think the phot album is strong
just a little less whiney, they are a solid band though
- unknown0
yeah they are. Super solid. I wrote them off at first as just another cow in the herd but "Photo Album" hit me. That shit is so well written, sung, and produced. I haven't had a chance yet to hear the new one. The freebie songs on the label site or okay, but I cant wait to hear the whole thing.

Well, I waited as long as I could to post to this thread, and I gave the new one as much of a chance as I could. Honestly, I really don't like it that much. I love the other records. This one really missed the mark for me. Can't explain exactly why. Just a feeling, really.
