Yes little Timmy, if you had never seen anything like it and it was the only one of it's kind, you WOULD rummage your mummy's purse for every spare quarter you could find.

on pong:
"What is this? [Picks up and twists the paddle controller] Am I controlling the volume?"

good point jg2....they're a ridiculous waste of time....the classics, though, i still rock them from time to time to align myself
- mitsu0
a game being a waste of time is subjective though. the japanese are more into video games than any other nation and they are some of the brightest kids you'll ever meet.
- ********0
are they?
- mitsu0
some of the brightest, not the brightest, so yes.

well, there are many different forms that intelligence can take...im not sure which kind the mastery of video games reflects....military/corporate complex?
- jg_20
agree with loudubs....
i am sorry mitsu, but i saw one docu about the passion in oriental countries for videogames and stuff like that and it was sick, really sick.... the kids can be bright but to wait 3-4 days in front of a store just to buy the first playstation is not really intelligent. psycopath maybe but not intelligent.
anyway, i love japan, dont pretend to offend! :)

but lets not use the "o" word

The Orient signifies a system of representations framed by political forces that brought the Orient into Western learning, Western consciousness, and Western empire. The Orient exists for the West, and is constructed by and in relation to the West. It is a mirror image of what is inferior and alien ("Other") to the West.

i'm not implying that video games attribute to ones level of intellegence, but rather that they don't have any substantial negative effects.
and jg_2, yes, that is a little overboard, i agree, but this isn't actually a cause and effect of video games, this is more of a obsessive compulsive disorder. i see the same behavior with sports or other activities.
also, i'm not japanese, so no worries. :)

life already is a video game.....
- jg_20
yeah, actually i was thinking about the nice occidental girls shouting like crazy for a robbie williams show..... compulsive disorder... you said it right...,
but the oriental people and videogames.... thats sick sick stuff.

screen 1- the wicked white desire to drive an SUV across the moon creates a great challenge for even the most skilled Japanese vid-kid
screen 2- you are miniaturized, placed inside a cell phone and inserted into their bosses rectum with the mission directive to find the power source of the Infinite Bullshit
screen 3- Boss screen.....
