I am not sure what's going on. I imported some jpegs into a mc the same size but they are coming in way larger. I tried the movie using other jpegs and they work fine.
Is there something wrong with the jpegs themselves?

na, that's a buggy thing in Flash, seen that before. some times they import smaller too.

is there a work around?

try importing them as PNGs
For some reason flash exports PNGs really low..doesnt work all the time.. but worth a shot
also try importing the png... break it apart...
this has worked before
stupid flash

sorry, I am dynamically importing them using XML. Everything is working except the size issue.

I would check the dpi in jpgs... make sure it's 72.
- unknown0
no such thing as DPI on teh web... only how big the images are..
ex. 800x600
- kpl0
yeah... but flash doesn't know that. besides, jpg predates the web.
I know I had to tweak images I've imported into flash a few times cos I forgot to check the dpi.
but then again, I can't remember if jpgs stored dpi info. so, I may be talking out my ass.

dude... no such thing as DPI on the web.. only Compression and Size of image... pixels...
DPI is onlyl for print

has the moviecllip that you're importing them into been resized at all? if you scale the movieclip prior to inserting the jpg it's gonna rescale the jpg to match the movieclip.

i've encountered a similar bug before...for me it turned out that the imported jpeg (or png's, or whatever have you) were actually fine...for some reaso, buggy flash was changeing the MC size...they were defaulting to like 60%, and i thought it was a problem with the bitmap...so check your MC dimms out on the _parent timeline...might help????

there absolutly IS dpi in the web....and its alway 72! :( (maybe not for long though)

also, make sure that you arent using progressive jpgs...

amen forz.
qburt, import two images, identical in pict format, with one 300dpi, one 72dpi into flash. The 300dpi is smaller on stage, the 72dpi shows up with its true dimensions.

AHHH not this again... i thought you people knew about the DPI myth...
dumb dumb dumb people

qbert...that atricle says that 72 dpi is only needed for web...in actuality, 72 dpi has NOTHING to do with web, it is a monitor standard (and the web is , fair i say, usually viewed on a computer monitor), cpu's can only handle monitors with 72 dpi, in about a year or so, i'll bet you this standard changes, as processor speeds are increasing- we will begin designing at like 150 dpi for web

whether monitors actually show 72 or 96 dpi is irrelevant.
