I'm sitting on the fence on this matter.
Piccaso was a brilliant realist who moved onto a "badly drawn' style.
Is it good or bad? I guess it's in the eye of the beholder.

its how you feel when you look or do not look at a piece of "art", but remember, all art has "frames" and some frames are traps.....

i am not talking about picasso.
i didn't even say i accept picasoo. sagmeister is a different story. i don't get it, if i am not thinking for myself, then this thread wouldn't even exist because almost everyone in here is telling me how good what i call crap is. i can tell when something is drawn with feeling. so everything you dislike is automatically brilliant because theyre thinking different from you i see? fucking tosser. oh i forgot you don't dislike anything because we have to quit critisizing everything right? yeah a-ok go go.

I'm not talking about Piccaso either. I'm talking about the difference between those who draw badly and those who draw badly on purpose.
So chill.

I can't really add anything that hasn't been said already.
How come teh good threads are always around when I have a full day of meetings, hmmmm?

"And if people are drawing 'badly' on purpose they they are obviously trying to communicate something that they feel cannot be reached through a more traditional and accepted way"
then the same could be said of for bad type yeah? bad music? bad food? bad books? this thread? what?

I draw badly, but not on purpose. I say people can draw as shitty as they well like.

it's called naive art.

The magazine 'iLLustrated aPe' is a prime example. It's filled with artwork that is really bad, maybe intensionally, maybe not. But in it's context it remains artistic. Deserves some attention. I define it as bad drawing when it seems to be drawn by someone with no training or practice.

i draw 'badly' on purpose. 'bad' is subjective though - it can be good at the same time. think of artists like cy twombly, philip guston, jean-michel basquiat , julian schnabel and others...if that's 'bad' i don't want to be good.
