i agree. a whole lot of content presented pretty well. nothing breath taking or amazing but we won't see that coming from many of the corporate giants.

you guys have a problem with the HP site but you think the microsoft site is good with info well presented? I'm obviously from another planet.

how about our fav
- whiteSneaks0
there is not much content on the hp site and it is out dated.
the ms site appears to be up to date and puts a lot info for a wide variety of there customers a click away.
again, i wouldn't give the ms site as an example of web excellence, but it does its job well and i don't consider an example of bad web design.

macromedia does it's job well.... microsoft does not.

tyrone you are on another planet mate - the microsoft site is one by which most others standards should be set - usability, design, and style...it is one of the very few big corporates that has got it's act together web-wise...
- whiteSneaks0
this aint so hot
- Tyrone0
jevad I'll gladly stay on this planet, away from people that think the microsoftsite is a site that sets the standards for good design and usability. That site blows.
- jevad0
ok whatever - agree to disagree on this one - but I know I'm right....
- Tyrone0
yes jevad you're right.....feel better?

I think that these companies all jumped on the content management solution, and in doing so picked their cookie cutter style sheeted boring template-esq sites....
I bet they dont even publish their own stuff either....CMS was a little bit of a waste of time

and why do hp have two logos?

DAMN, every post so far on this list is so shallow.
Think beyond the 'designers dream" flash website.
Look at information architecture involved in producing the sites you are slating. Think about how many people are involved in updating the site with content management systems across huge companies globally.
Not everything can be "2advanced" (god help us...)
You cannot fault the architecture on IBM.com.
The things you take for granted are the most important.
Come on people, I'm not impressed!

functioanl sites can look good too.
- Chip0
Yes, and I think some of them do. For example Microsoft is ok, as is apple (of course) and I also think IBM is ok.
But I still think web designers in general think any site can be full of flash and music and all sorts without thinking about its purpose.
- sexypixel0
web designers in general... uhoh.
I get your point, but i wouldnt generalise about web designers in a design forum.

I agree Chip,
I didn't think there was too much wrong with hp or ibm.

mind spelling out for me what was wrong with that one?
- sexypixel0
