Very moving site.
The story from one of the Hiroshima Maidens is incredibly tragic. More stories from people affected by war need to be told in order to dispel that horrendous idea that human beings can be thought of as "colateral damage".
I'm going to the protest this Saturday - anyone else coming?
- jevad0
which one's that?
- mrdobolina0
could you imagine what would happen to that country if the US pulled out of iraq right now?
- mrdobolina0
not that it is a great place to be now, but what do you think would happen?

I saw this site a long time ago. I love it but couldn't find where the answers to the quiz were. I gave up looking.

http://www.mwaw.org/article.php?…
"What is becoming apparent is that we don't really care about the Iraqis. We may think we want to bring them democracy but, on an individual level, we don't care very much about them or their lives. We liberated them. They should be grateful to us. If they die now, well, no one said democracy was easy."

The site is breathtaking! Great find!
I've been thinking about this topic for a while and I have to tell you that it's funny how one country who did something that will never be forgotten, a nuclear bombing of Hiroshima is spreading democracy and freedom for others :) Fighting against weapons of mass destruction :) Very ironic, don't you think. One thing that will destroy us is not a nuclear bomb, but what stands behind it. We all know what that is, don't we, money and struggle to be in power. What's even more concerning is that one force who is by far the worst capitalistic country in the world and where you are judged how much money you have (we can all again guess who I'm talking about) is the same country who will bring this world to an end. The most horrifying thing in all of this, that this will happen, not because of hatered, not because of defending a country against aggressor, but because of the "green". And we should all suffer the consenquences because we allowed this green force to influence the whole world. So I'm sitting and waiting without fear for the day of another beginning.

lighten up, you work in advertising.
- vespa0
oh yes mrdobolina, the old "you are part of this system, therefore you must accept it unconditionally" argument.
Personally I think the best people to influence the system have to understand the way it works, and therefore graphic designers and advertisers are in a very good position to put alternative ideas out there.
- mrdobolina0
I think that is a cop out, if you feel strongly about something go full-force. Dont half-step around it, while feeding off of the oppressor.
- vespa0
You have to know a system in order to be able to break it.
I'm not going to be able to change anything by living on a commune and chanting kumbaya.
- mrdobolina0
good luck with that. sorry Im so cynical, but the only thing that changes anything in the world is money and armies.
