ideas change the world. I'm surprised you don't know that if you are a designer.

"the only thing that changes anything in the world is money and armies"
utter, defeatist, bollocks!

romantic sentiments, but the design I see sells products.

Im not trying to change the way anyone thinks, Im just showing you that I have a different point of view.
- vespa0
I appreciate you have a different point of view mrdobolina, and I'm very thankful it's not mine. How would I get out of bed in the morning with such a passionless approach to design?
I'm not a completely naive romantic - I have to pay the bills - but I do need to remain inspired.

having ideas that change the world at 7am seems a bit lofty to me.
- vespa0
It's 1 in the afternoon here but my ideas do usually start at 7am when I'm half awake it's true.
It's funny how people who feel powerless try to make other people feel that way too.
"He who could not reach the vine said the grapes were sour". (someone scrawled that on the wall of the darkroom at my uni)
Don't be a sourpuss sweetcheeks - it's fun getting excited about things!

I know what you mean, vespa. I dont want you to think I was being rude or anything. maybe its just cloudy here and it has brought the cynic out in me. I respect all of you people for your stance on the war and on war in general, I dont think you have a chance in hell of changing anything but I respect that you care about your fellow people.

ghandi? mandela?

point taken kezza.
- vespa0
lol kingkezza!
bagwan-mrdobolina has spoken!
so I guess what we need is an army of designers to put ideas out there that place people ahead of money.
no offence taken mrdobolina, I alternate between bouts of cynicism that last a few months before I kick myself and remember that i am alive and awake and powerful.
Jeeesus that must be too much to handle at 7 am. I'll go and chant kumbaya to myself now.

mrdobolina has a point, I don't mind the anti-war cries as well, in fact I respect it, but with that being said, it's so out of control at this point that I mean it's like a snowball chance in hell. In fact, I start to wonder about some people and maybe them using the anti-war cause to promote themselves as designers. Probably not, but you never know, people are monkeys. :)
- ********0
BTW, I am a realist, not a dreamer. I see people for what they really are, glorified monkeys. :)
- jevad0
I really love your attitude and outlook kim...very refreshing...
- vespa0
I hear where you are coming from JazX.
Designers are whores but surely it's slightly less of a sellout to believe in what you are selling for some of the time even if you can't all the time? Is the promotion of an idea worse than promoting corporate agendas? I guess it is if you support the BNP. Dangerous things, ideas.
All we can do is think hard about what we believe and why.
Do monkeys dream or is that uniquely human?
- ********0
I think monkeys also dream, but about good things like love and bananas, where we human dream about destroying each other for no reason. :)

I think design companies should be made to do what architects are ment to do every year... namely do one public service project a year.
- ********0
YEAH! That is really a nice idea, public projects rock, in fact I am thinking about putting together a public installation soon from a buddies building promoting underpriveledged business. :)

nice idea kingkezza!
Thanks for the compliment jevad...
