You know I run a PC desktop, 2.66 gig, one gig of ram, 128 overclocked nvidia card, and I bought a powerbook 17 inch for work, the PC is nice as a gaming alternative, but when I want to get work done, I always use the mac, OSX is so stable, I am not panicked and worried things are going to go wrong, I even converted my girlfriend to get a 12 inch powerbook, she was completely anti mac until she watched me work for days without any problems in illustrator photoshop, quark, dreamweaver, fireworks, painter 8, email, icq, msn, word, browsers, flash, etc etc...no conflicts, no blue screen of death....the 17 inch pbook keeps pace and is faster on larger photoshop files as well...amazed, and switched....

I wouldn't get a Mac if you paid me. I think they overrated and boring. Get one of them Compaqs. I saw one in Dixons and it was all black and plastic with lights and shit.

ru a plant or something of course you should if you're considering a G5-keep your old pc for games ....and buy a usb 3button mouse they work on macs too

Yes. I used to own a "Power!-Mac" before the G series was released, when the time came for me to upgrade I decieded on getting a PC because of the flexability it has with software. Ive been useing a G4 a work here now for 2 years and when I go home back to the DELL the overall quality just aint the same, you loose that quality and sharpness you get on a Mac. ....If a MAc was a hifi it be a technics and a PC be a Tandy.

What about the G4 powerbook. In terms of mc vs pc laptops is it better to go with the powerbook?

When will you people learn? It's not the machine...
Get over it. It doesn't make a difference.

Of course. MACs are FAR superior to PC's DOI!!

"The normalized score for the PowerMac G5 2.0GHz comes to 547, which gives it the highest (best) score out of all the other computers in the list, beating out a dual 3GHz Xeon (overclocked)."
That's just interesting. The optomized code runs quite a wild margin faster than it used to on the same machine. I don't really care--I use both platforms.

Example, new G5 dual benchmarks with optomized Photoshop code:

It wins 15/21 tests. :)

And there is a lot to consider when you're picking up a G5.
1.)Get a dual, no questions asked.
2.)Stack the ram.
3.)Realize that benchmarks right now don't take advantage of recompiled software, aren't optimized, Panther reportedly gives a 30-40% performance boost to Mac machines, and most benchmarks do not turn off slewing.
The dual machine is a beast--and OSX romps windows imo. Mine is in the post come the 22nd of this month. :)
