it's alright... text is that ugly size clients always want :) and the toolbar is a bit slow/unresponsive... not sure if it's supposed to be like that.. but just a little off putting.

These are all built using XHTML/CSS:

http://www.macromedia.com/

http://www.uh-hosting.co.uk/
http://www.quark.com/
http://www.pga.com/

macromedia would be very boring without that nice bit of flash ni the middle : )
Like it though.

it's really not a bad idea, especially if you are going for a simple and clean layout.

xhtml/css forces the designer to simplify things a bit and i would consider this a good thing. some of the links _db posted are awesome examples of this. the pga site and its related tourny sites are some of the best sites i have seen in a while.

styleJunky's site serves the purpose of displaying his work very well. and it's done with clean, simple code. not bad at all.

"text is that ugly size clients always want"
?? too big / too small?
- lowimpakt0
i like a mixture of techniques. tables, css, xhtml whatever. your text should be scalable to suit the viewer (ems)
- whiteSneaks0
i would agree with that. i am not a fan sacrificing your site for the sake of staying true to some ideal.
zeldman's book has section on the problem with em's. in theory good. in reality not so much.

good point lowimpakt.
i've just changed the fonts to % sizes - should be scalable now.

Nice job, style! I redid my site a while back so I know what you're going through.
Only suggestion I have would be to have a little blurb at the top that appears when someone is viewing the page with a non-compliant browser. Similar to what they do at http://www.alistapart.com
Other than that, looks great!
