I totally agree with Monkey. Go to a bookstore and look at a few design books. This can help alot.

Most of us know the pantone colors, I also know that you really need to get some books on typography.
I think the best advice would be to blow off the varnish and get this done at kinkos. This is not going to stand out as being unique or different. The silver logo feels like 80's GAP or Go Round ads... The longer you work this concept the better it will get. But I think a better use of your cash would be some good books on typography.
Sorry that sounds harsh - I'm not trying to be an ass, you posted your work here and asked for opinions.

yeah like not just pick a font and use it but change it a little.. to make it a little unique...
I didn't study design persay.. I had a few classes that dealt with design but didn't go into detail. My course was very broad and I learned a little about a lot. So i guess i'm learning design the hard way.. but there is no better way to learn than see the mistakes that you guys pick out. I'm sure that there a lot of you that really know what you are talking about.. but at the same time there are few just like me. :-) ... so i promiss not to get upset anymore as long as you can help me and not discourage me..
Thanks..

always ask yourself:
"what is the reason of aligning the text in center and not left?"
"what is the reason of making this card?"
"what is the reason of using the blue colour?"
"why the name should appears the biggest in the layout?"

A perfect book for you would be Erik Spiekermann's "Stop Stealing Sheep and Find out How Type Works".
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obido…
Its a great book to start with - you might even find this used somewhere. Covers alot of beginning concepts clearly and is extremely easy to read.
Dude - don't feel bad. There are a lot of self taught designers. I'm one. You need to study, sketch 50 different concepts for your card, and read you ass off. Graphic design for me is a lifelong passion that requires a lot of work. Hang in there - you'll get better.

Or just look around. Get inspired by what you see, what you do, what you hear, how you live. It must be personnal.
Or just write and place stuff.

Oh, and might I say, you have a really good attitude versus criticism.

I know computers.

Right Blueman, bottom line is, if you like your design, then go ahead with it; who cares about the newstoday crowd, are they your peers, equals, or tutors?

great business card but for god's sake please get rid of that nasty wierd looking leather bracelet, levis, yesterday's trend thing you have strapped to your wrist! gawd that is ugly.
;-))
- Triss0
Hey Canadian, not into the metro-sexual male? Huh?!
- unknown0
I regret wearing that wristband. Lets put the past behind... and go buy a trucker cap.
:P
- Triss0

hey Paul..
got your email, and have read some or most of the comments here..
i think most have the right idea..
your card has some great things going on, but can still use work.
the lines should go,
the order of things on the back seems jumbled up
i'd start from scratch, and have a look around on the internet for some good examples...
i still dig your logo, but i think the overall layout of your card should be a bit tighter, more refined and subtle before you commit the cash to get it printed..cheers budy..
you're on the right track, just keep at it, and it'll pay off..
:)
