a lot easier fix thant reinstalling windows if IE gets fuXX0red, eh?
Yeah, you should be able to find Safari prefs somewhere - trash em.
also, if you don't know
look up the fsck -s command
reboot holding command+s
you can use fsck -s or -a or whatever to clean up stuffworks pretty well.

apps do occasionally crash in OS X just like in any other OS
but OS X does not.

Are you sure you removed everything Safari related? I had that problem once. I just removed Home/Library/Preferences/com.app... Home/Library/Safari/Downloads.pl... History.plist, and all was right again (I didn't even lose my bookmarks). At least you don't have MSBlast - what a nasty little virus!

i did! I lost all my bookmarks!! ok, enough about that...
anyway, changing the font settings did not make a difference (unless you got a suggestion for the settings)..
I think I better check Apple's support pages and dig real deep... as this situation is really odd, since it happened just like that.. (before it Safari worked excellent)..
Now MOST pages make it crash (not the light CSS layed out ones, but the heavier ones(with flash) like NT)..

throw away the com.apple.quicktime.plugin.prefe... from the preference folder and it's all over.. I have never thought about that! :)

Are you sure you lost all your bookmarks? Even if you threw the right file away did you empty the trash- I dont know, what exactly did you trash maybe we can help you get them back.
SAFARI for me has been surprisingly a great expierence. It hasn't crash once yet on me- almost did loading a XML file but it made it. Even if you install a new version it usually updates your bookmarks for you.
