All you need is a MiniDV video camera or MiniDV deck with firewire or iLink (if you go with Sony)

Yes, if premiere is what you have, then export with that. The footage should be exported using the native DV drivers it was captured with for best results. Yes realtime is what you're looking for, this usually requires 512mb of ram and a 7200 rpm udma66 drive (minimum) dedicated for video content. This is not to say that it will not work otherwise, but that in order for it to work flawlessly it is recommended. For best quality, it's best to not modify the original footage unless you desperately need to otherwise you're at the mercy of your DV codec to render, also graphics should be exported seperately directly to the digibeta/betacam system once they're done editing.

I learned that today.
For your informations:
Digital Video Format and IEEE 1394
Using MiniDV cassettes, audio and video are recorded digitally.
It features a DV terminal, also known as a FireWire terminal, which conforms to the IEEE 1394 standard.
Using this terminal, you CAN transfer digital video and audio to and from a computer equipped with a DV terminal, another DV camcorder, or a DV VCR.
*** >> The digital data transfer occurs WITHOUT any degradation to the image or audio. This means you can edit movies on your computer and maintain the same high level of picture and audio quality -- when you transfer the edited movie back to DV tape using the DV terminal. <<<****
No need of an Pinnacle card .... for the same cost you get a Camcorder to record movie ...!
