Oh my god...its official. I've become an Apple Music Store addict. Anyone else addicted?
what should I buy next? .99 cents!! I'm doomed.

Here's your answer:
$15 per month UNLIMITED DOWNLOADS. You get an mp3. You can do whatever the fuck you want with it.
Why are you putting more money in the RIAA's hands than they would if you bought a CD?
Have you thought about this at all?
Not to get on you, I'm just so disgusted with Apple and their whorishness.

http://www.emusic.com doesn't have Britney and 50 cent, but they have a lot of punk/jazz/electronica and I've gotten tons of stuff from them. It's a matter of taste, but they are worth looking into for the price if nothing else.

Great! Emusic.com seems to have a great Indie selection...and that's cool. The more the merrier.
The whole record industry is in chaos right now and all I know is I have iTunes and I see the music store and there are these songs I've been wanting and I can get them for .99 or buy an album for 10 bucks (havent done that yet). Have you boycotted buying CDs now? Cause it seems like that's your logic.
Well, I haven't and I love the service. I've also heard that there's something in the works for Indie/unsigned artists...which I think is great.

oh and another thing...not only can I buy but without ever opening a browser or leaving iTunes, can download with a click of a button and its put right in iTunes. One click.

I agree with monkeyshine.
The point isn't to put money into the RIAA's hands. The point is to be able to purchase good music online without having to worry about much.
iTUNES is great. Now that apple has purchased one of the biggest players in the music industry, it only makes sense.
And it is even easier then monkeyshine has put it. When you hit purchase, it starts to download to your "purchased music" playlist. Already on your computer. Just click burn and off you go.
I have purchased lots of music from the itunes store. The first album I purchased was from ugly duckling who is on emperor norton records now. iTunes has a great indie hookup.
Don't hate on apple. They did this with no warning or crying about the music industry. They just came out one day with this ill ass app. Now millions of heads are using it.
I would recommend it. Word is that apple is to release itunes for the pc in the fall.
For you pc users, you should get it as soon as it is available.

My logic is not to boycott buying CDs. I only did that during the Napster litigation, but that's a slightly different issue.
My point is that CDs cost about $17. Figure you get about 15 songs. So you're already paying about $1 per song anway. The expense of distributing these thiings is mostly packaging. Now, you're buying only the songs and not even the plastic they would have come from. Therefore, you're saving the record labels a shitload of money.
Sure, I have to open a program to download from http://www.emusic.com, but it's one application away from iTunes. Compare that few seconds of minor inconvenience while you're still sitting at your computer to the limitations of not being able to switch to as many computers as you want and having this new proprietary format.
I would never condemn iTunes as a piece of software. It's a fantastic program and nothing compares to it. I just have a problem with Apple for playing into the wrong hands. They may just as easily be betrayed by the same people who sue college students for sharing tunes. You have to watch who you get into bed with.
