dude let's stop arguing in circles.
it doesn't matter who made 50 cent what matters is if he is a musician or not.i'll wager that he and most Hip Hop cats out there wouldn't know a b flat from a clef when it comes to music.

ok, I'll drop 50. I won't mention him again. for another 24 hours, maybe a week. but this aint about just 50.
but ok. this was another point I was going to make about hip-hop but I decided not to post:
you're using western classical definitions of music toward something more worldly and more rhythmical in hip-hop. Music existed before people drew the b flat. Hell, music probably existed outside of the 12-half-tone structure of western music.
Tell you what, 400 years ago, the Maori, Apache, or Chinese never heard of the staffs and clefs. You're saying hip-hoppers know as much musical notation as much as these folks. Yet you wanna say these non-european groups weren't making music?
The other point I want to make is that hip-hop is strongly rhythmic. any melodies are more or less extensions of rhythm. thus, the clefs and flats don't matter. What does matter is rhythm, and any hip-hop producer or rapper or DJ can and will tell you what tempo is, bars, phrases, song structures, etc. even if they don't know the 'proper' names for them.

LMAO! absolutely prom4theus.....

wadda wadda wadda, no kidding polyrythmic music comes from Africa. Anyone can tell you that who's taken even a basic History of Music or Jazz class.

"Any hip-hop producer or rapper or DJ can and will tell you what tempo is, bars, phrases, song structures, etc. even if they don't know the 'proper' names for them." - Haaaa, haaa LMAO yeah right, they'd be lucky if they knew what tempo was alone. ;)
- skonge0
so are they back together and making music again or not?
- quamb0
kpl- agree totally (except for your bizzaro beatles comments)
prom- not sure what point your trying to make?

um, where is the link to tribe getting back together? love to read up on it. i doubt is its gonna happen though.
music is music. you like what you like. no need to bash others for what they consider good.
the same can be said for different styles of design. some like one thing; some like another. and still even other have their own tastes. its all relative.
the problem is when people push their perspectives on others in an attempt to "politely?" say "hey, i value your ideas BUT your __fill in blank__ sucks for these reasons.." thats unfounded.
so, for the sake of being open to others, maybe the topic needs to get back on track and discuss whether or not tribe sohuld get back together, if they truly are and to simply reminsce on the good ol days of high school garage parties, tp'ing and figuring out who had the "fresh" ride.
peace fellow music lovers.

Hmm, it seems a bit odd to me and no offense to any from outside of inner-city America. However, those that were born in the inner-city ghettos of the US might just have a little more in-depth knowledge about Hip-Hop than others. Considering the entire genre was created in these areas and it's ten times more authentic. Just as someone from Europe would have more knowledge about happenings and customs of European culture. Etc, etc.
- quamb0
though hip-hop today has transcended far beyond the "ghettos"
genres of music always begin somewhere
- JazX0
true dat yo, hee, hee just making a point as I'm from those areas and grew up the original songs and groups not 50 cent. So somehow I think some of the points I made are quite valid, cheers anyway ;)
