I use a PC but would love to have one o them dinky cubes and a jazzy flat screen monitor, and a titanium G4. They look cool. I'm shallow.

at work i have a G4 733. Everything smokes it. PC people, get your panties out of a wad. Apple is not magically closing the gap.
I work in an all PC shop. Ironically, all i ever hear is mac slamming. With 2 gigs of mac fonts, i don't really feel like switching to a pc. Beating up on macs is about as tired as calling bill gates the borg.

"Saying a PC is equal to a Macintosh is like finding a potato that looks like Jesus and believing you've witnessed the second coming."
not from me, but funny : )

Kingkezza is so right:
" it's only a tool, im more interested in what macromedia or adobe do than what apple or dell or windows do"
this would apply more to operating systems though.
As far as what your computer looks like...get over that shit right away. You're spending thousands of dollars on a computer and you care what it looks like? What does your work look like? Time to re-evaluate priorities.
As far as that news story goes, it was too technical for me. I believe it though. What kind of lies do the Wintel people tell us though? There's probably another side to this story.

I'd rather have a potato than Jesus, but that's another thread.
- pascii0
whatever. i use them both. OK COMPUTER. transform it into a radiohead-thread?

at the end of the day they both crash, can cause you complete heart ache, will give you carpal tunnel and a bad back, will display porn, and photoshop and illi works on them so:
so fucken what, what ever rocks your boat.
its like arguying with an jew that sunday is a better day to pray

For some it is just a matter of preference. For me, it's performance. I may switch to Linux if it proves to be better for what I do (it was used for rendering LOTR).
I don't care about operating systems, you can get used to whatever.
As for looks, I think it should matter. If I pay $4k for anything, I want it to look good. Not too much to expect, I think. I'd pay a little more for better looks, if performance was the same.
It's not about 'it's all a tool at the end of the day thing', it's about saying 'do you want to take the fast car and get home early or the SUV and clunk around'.
I will consider any machine that give a noticable performace boost (like duals offer tremendous improvements for GI calculations, but for PS and web, not much).
Nothing is perfect, but there is the fastest.

I went apple and I'm never goin' PC again. Except for the occasional cs game.

he's doin IT hard

maybe work is about performance. so i try to be creative, so i try do it good.
and because i am a human and no machine the work should also be a lil fun. so i choosed a mac.
because it is smart, because it looks good, inspires me and makes me more creative. sitting in front of a mac makes me feel human. sitting in front of a pc makes me feel bad.
thats it for me. have fun.

that's why I'm waitning for apple to swith to intel processors... it would be their smartest move...

So you mean to tell me that I can stop cutting rubylith and fire my Scitex operator and do all this stuff myself with a Mac or PC? This will make web design sooo much easier.
Enough with the Mac vs PC thing. It's fucking stupid.

Yeah, and Mac mouses have one button, whats that all about!

*blahtg* *schnod* *pllll*

I have nothing against Macs. We're talking here about marketing strategies and how Jobs is copying G.W.'s methods.

Thermo, save some cash and try this for inspiration:

Isn't this to be expected from EVERY manufacturer, in probably EVERY industry.
And shouldn't all of us know it just as good as anybody?
