Yeah i have to say that I find it difficult to take sriously the comparison between a dentist and a graphic designer. You have less chance of finding yourself hideously disfigured by choosing a cheap design solution than by choosing a cheap dentistry solution.

Ok, no more analogies, the so called "new" design sucks! Vector this vector that, it has no life. Wanna see design, go buy a magazine or a package of those thang juice boxes.
I'm tired of seeing people with a collection of ugly ass scribbles using PS or whatever, publishing this as art on the net, and calling themselves webdesigners.
There are some really talented pepole outthere, but for the way people here react to threads I don't believe there is no talent in here.

I still don't think I'm getting through to you, I am trying to label you and I'll stop and just hit these issues one by 1...
1.
To be a succesful designer you must evolve and never be stagnant
- fair enough, no problem with that, but how does picking on young people for trying to design help you to evolve?
2. Titles
- Consumers have access to the same technology that only 'professionals' once did. That was the only thing that seperated them from non-directors. I continually get the impression that amatuers are being denied their proper titles simply because they aren't part of culture which is primarily based on economics, a director as described at dicitionary.com:
A person who supervises the creative aspects of a dramatic production or film and instructs the actors and crew.
That sounds just like what you did when you told your parents where to stand in front of niagra falls. Just because its a small project doesn't make it any less important in my opinion.
3. Maestro
- Back to dictionary.com:
A master in an art, especially a composer, conductor, or music teacher.
If you ar a master in an art then you can call yourself maestro, why not? (insert rnating personal shit here:) oh thats right, you can't because you aren't a master because you have to resort to attacking an invisible and absent people behind their back as some way of justifying your own fears of failure. If you want to blame the kids because you don;t get anywork then do so, but don't expect the kids to stop taking the work. If you are so much better than them then prove it to their clients, i'm sure they will be most gracious to fire their ass and take you on because you're worth it.. aren't you?

I think you're in real danger of regarding your profession too highly, you're only a designer for F***s sake!
Do you really think you have the pressure a surgeon has?
And you need to be able to handle the fact that there are teenagers who can design and understand newmedia better than you.

ok so u saying we need some sort of line/marker to say when you are designer - a grading. a belt - a signed a paper. award. a business card.
so at what point do u come a "designer"?
i have no education in design - i left school at 16 - to work at a meat works.
im not a designer, but how do i tell when i come one?
tell me.
- unknown0
phojekt don't worry, they send you the designer credentials, just be on the look out for a pink envelope on the mail.

BonSeff, dude, are you jelous of my designer's smily face?
This is why when you tell a person that you're a webdesigner, they kinda laugh on your face, what the heck is that, they say, then they say, it must be though being out of a job for 4 months a year at a time.
Oh my, a full sentence BonSeff, aren't you proud of me.
:) cheesy ironic smily.
