Good design skills and creativity don’t necessarily go hand in hand. I once worked with a print designer whose design ideas where shot down over and over in favor of mine while I built their website. I’m on the creative end of the spectrum, suck at design but fascinated by it nonetheless and spend hours and hours playing with images and pretending to be a designer.

Ehh... the whole point of the web is it is accessible to anyone with a computer (or phone or whatever). The web started out as text only medium for communicating.
If a 13 year old wants to put up a site consisting of pictures of his cat, I think that's fuckin great.
If you decide to take your head out of your arse, I think that too would be great.

I'm in the dentists office the other day, and i'm in the chair, and the dentist asks me, so what is it you do for a living? I tell him I'm a web designer and he goes: (rolling his eyes) Isn't everybody...
me: and what, dentists aren't a dime a dozen?the point is that people think that their 12 year old "computer wiz" niece can do just.....
fuck it maybe I'm kidding myself, maybe I should get into architecture like I've always wanted where at least you get some respect.

tfs_mag: if your reference to "tacky tiled background and a cooper font" was anything to do with the site in my profile, then fair enough - I know those elements aren't particularly original, but I reckon there is a lot more to that site than those particular elements.
If you weren't refering to it, then plz ignore the above :)
