I got pulled over once for reading and driving.
Im glad to see crackdowns on driving cell phoners...I can't count how many times I get cut off by some ass who pulls out in front of me and then proceeds to drive 10 miles under the speed limit cause they're distracted on the phone.

ha! i just had this happen to me a few hours ago. this guy was going like 15 in a 45... i thought his car had died or something.... nope, just chillin' on his mobile.

i see your point but i find the idea of having coversations a lot more distracting then those things - if I'm scarfing down a donut or something while driving - i'm not thinking about the eating process "chew,chew, swallow etc.)but if someon's on the other end of a phone telling me my recent stock investment just dropped big time or its an argument with a girlfriend - or anything calling my minds attention away from the road - that's a lot more distracting - then rolling down a window - in my opinion

fyi - I'm not saying talking on the phone and driving is hard - some chimps could do it
but I've seen people get distracted by whats being said on the other end of the line for sure

I'm surprised car manufacturers and mobile phone co's haven't teamed up to provide mobile phone berths in cars...ie all Ford cars have a mobile phone holder (connected to speakers) for anyone with a Nokia phone...
...cross breed those brands please.

Here in Portugal if you get caught driving while speaking on a mobile you'll get your licence revoked for about six months. And I have to agree with this, a lot of people get killed because of this: assholes don't pay attention to the weel/road.
A close frined of mine has to spent 5 months in recovery due to an accident caused by this cunt (talking on the phone) who was not paying enough attention to her driving. And killed two other persons in the process.

i once got pulled over for sleeping while driving, while comfortly dreaming away on the backseat and a brick on the pedal i thought it wouldn't be that risky in the middle of the night on that straight freeway...
