I think I'll release a cola called Coca Cula.
Come on guys, he has to protect his assets.
And he makes some great movies, go see 25th hour and then try and say he makes pretty crappy movies. if he wasnt around we'd be all watching The Hulk 5 times

I was thinking of Spike Jonze TV..
would be much better...
think of it:
All day long Spike Jonze type of humor/films on tv all day, yay!

so what if spike lee is the first name that pops in to your head? even if they intentionally named it spike tv to make money off his name. he doesnt loose anything over it... this is so fucked up.... it's just a name.
plain greed.

Spike Lee makes great movies!!! His film style has been the inspiration to many other film and video directors. He has accomplished much more in a few years than most will accomplish in there lifetime, including those bitching about spike lee. When I hear bitching like this I find the reasons questionable. Spike DDB, the movies, his assets are valuable, that is something you need to understand.

for the relatively small price of a lawyer related fees, spike lee has managed a PR coup worth millions in free advertising
he doesn't have a case, but he certainly isn't stupid
- sauceruney0
I seem to be missing an "and" in between "lawyer" and "related" in my post above

the fact that you people are actually think that spike lee has a legitamate arguement over spike TV really scares me
if i was watching spike TV i wouldnt automaticly think man that Spike Lee has really put together a great TV station all by himself with such great programing, what genius.
or on the flipside i dont think anyone in the universe would see TV listings and say to themselves
"Oh wow a new channel, Spike TV that must be some kind of new Spike lee joint, man that guy is so brilliant im gonna celebrate his brilliance by watching spike TV"

i still think Spike Jonze..
would love to see him argue over this... should be hella funny!!

Its really just working out for TNN better... granted they have to delay the launch... but once they win this silly, silly case... how many more viewers will be made aware of the station after that asshole Lee dragged em to court and made a huge deal out of them?
- unknown0
first things first...the guy who started this thread is really not that bright...for him to say "wa wa wa my friends at heavy have to rebrand spikeTV because spike lee wa wa wa " is just dumb...I mean didnt they get paid to rebrand the network? As designers we always have to change things because a client has new ideas or goals etc, that point is dead. Two sipike lee has made some great movies about american culture that were very thought provoking, its a shame that one would call films that mean something crappy. Lets all just take note this capital J guy is riding the short bus

ahh thats anthor good point that spike lee lawsuit gave TNN free press...I mean really who was checking for SpikeTV dubbed the "Men's Network". After that little run in with lee everyone is. To be honest at first I thought the whole thing was a plan to get free press, I thought about how cool it would have been for TNN to pay spike to sue them...no matter what now everyone knows about the "NewTnn" what ever they are gonna call themselves...didnt that used to be a hillbilly network anyway?
- unknown0
Spike Lee had to take out a $500,000 bond in case TNN wins the court case, to cover their losses in the event of a delayed launch (which has happened)
The station is nothing but crap stereotypical jock stuff-that's basically what they want to represent with Spike TV. I mean, they have a show called Striperella (done by Stan Lee) and what else, wrestling, "guy" shows that basically exploit women 24/7?
I think I've heard it's like Maxim and Stuff for TV.Many people in Hollywood and in the movie business had sided with Spike Lee, saying that when they heard of a channel or show called Spike TV, they instantly thought of him and assumed involvment. Granted, you could put out all kinds of statements to show no involvement with this show, but think about it in Spike Lee's viewpoint-His name is his brand, people think of certain things when they think of him. He's got that reputation to protect.
Besides, I've had trouble seeing how "Spike TV" is a legit thing for TNN to change to on the basis of wondering what that word means to their programming.
To be honest, I'd sooner think it was a beach volleyball channel before a reformat of TNN.
