I♥ Radiohead

dont like hail to the theif that much, my fave is kid a.
why do people find the need to slag off on radiohead anyhow? there is all the crap on mtv and radio, though for odd reason people step out of their way to talk down a band that at least have a distinct sound and aren't phased by making 'radio friendly' shite.

Great band as a whole but pre OK Computer sounds like wanna be U2 and Amesiac has a few good tunes but mostly throw away Kid A sounds. Sounds rushed with too many fillers. The new one is good but not great. And yeah it is a tad boring and overly sappy at times. I love Thom's voice but it gets annoying on all the ballads after a few listens.
I'm the opposite with this band- OK Computer blew my mind first listen, so did Kid A, every other album is simply "fare" with a few great songs mixed in.
I love that they are out there "doing" it and support that but....

NT has an average of 2 or 3 Radiohead threads a day. I would have never mentioned that I dislike them if it wasn't for the constant "Oh we designer kids all LOVE Radiohead because they are so ALTERNATIVE" bullshit. What's so fucking special about Radiohead?
I don't slag on Britney or Christina or Blink182 because it goes without saying that they are crap. Nobody with the intelligence to open a door listens to that crap.
But Radiohead has got some sort of misplaced "we are so creative and you have to listen to us if you are creative" stamp, and it annoys me.
Take OK Computer. Was it really more than a catchy pop album? It wasn't bad, but was it really enough to "go into history as one of the best bands ever"?
And the albums after OK, they are all wannabe artsy fartsy "let's please the confused kids" albums.
That is called BULLSHIT in my book. At least The Bends was an honest pop album, and not some wannabe alternative crap.

I think you're confused with what pop is

I've been a rock musician for eight years. I think I know my genres. I listen to music from I wake up till I go to bed. I'm not talking through my ass here.

Well stop singing through it then! :)

Listen dude, I wasn't saying "Radiohead is a pop band".
Oh shit! I just realized I mentioned the wrong album! I was thinking about Pablo Honey, not The Bends.
Sorry. I'll try again:
PABLO HONEY is a pop album.
Listen to how the songs are built on OK Computer and Pablo Honey. Yep, that's pretty pop.
- pascii0
they are overrated from their listeners : )

It's funny, because most Radiohead fans are really defensive. When someone say "Radiohead is crap" they flip out and start shouting stuff like "Radiohead is the best band ever and you are a jerk and you should shut up" and stuff.
Well perhaps not in this thread, but I've seen a few threads gone amuck after a negative Radiohead comment.

radiohead are pish...however i'm in full agreement with the man schjetne there, confusing the kids..class....make some noodley shite.all that 'our next album may alienate some fans'-what be the meaning o' that then thom you spaz
?? remember radiohead's so called big brothers r.e.m..'if we ever get too big, we'll start making windmills'-eh?? windmills....windmills...is that normal...christ radiohead seemingly called themselves that so that they would be in the cd rack as r.e.m in the fuckin shops!! that's pritty fuckin' intellectual now, isn't it..radiohead are like pink floyd circa'68, a groop of public schoolboys recording piss trickling of the side of a viola and thinkin it's a tad on the edge...another thing, ok computer was supposed to be littered with john coltrane-isms and expressions of freeform jazz...more like litter and bagpipes shoved up robbie coltranes flabby jackson fllan!! radiohead are shite!!
