sorry again with the example but , yes i f i had 500 k $ right now i'll HONESTLY hesitate a lot between the new Nissan ZX400 (or 500 don't remember)and an old, but classy mercedes to look like a 50 years old pimp..
honestly the competition is open : of course the civic line doesn't enter here !;:)

i think it would hurt a all professional designers reputations to take this gig. it's for the 'up and coming' 14yr old youngsters who are just learning photoshop and want to put their l337 design skills to work and maybe make a few bucks to buy themselves a new bike. no harm there.
very few phpbb's commission professional designers to do this type of work anyway, so i don't think we need to worry. what we should worry about are thinks like e-lance or rent-a-coder... that's bs!

i am starting a web development firm and i have already design the front end..
so i post in a developers forum that i am looking for a some "super cool backend." It should be fun to make. I am offering $500 to the developer with the best solution.do you think i wouldnt be hated on? just merely pointing out that its a ripoff of talent. not talent that i find threatening. a simple ripoff of talent. As a professional I simply find it wrong.

What they will get as a result for there 500 dollars will likely be garbage. If you don’t like the contest then don’t enter it. I will not be! Yes these type of contest bug me, however this exist in every field; exploitation is the nature of capitalism.
Expecting to change these guys’ attitudes is like me expecting to change Bill O’Reiley’s attitude towards rap music. Choose your fights don’t let them choose you.

Bonseff, dude, the web is big enough, it's a shame you can't control it dude. See, some people live off this, nope, they really enjoy what they're doing, it's not for the money alone dude, it's a community, if you want to control them too with your $125 an hour for design go ahead, but I recommend you having some kids of your own to raise dude.
A cool analogy is the Blair witch dude, learn from that, cause you missed the point on this thread, so much for charging the big bucks when you can't understand something so simple.

I have not laughed so hard in awhile. All of the arguments are somewhat valid, my point is that even if there were 1,000,000 of these threads out there doing the exact same thing, it's not going to take a penny out of my pocket this year next year etc...
