    Hi ,

this is a small internet company in montreal , ive done a few freelance job for them and they asked me to redo their website which currently is http://www.technodia.ca , The new site would be in html/flash , the content need to be html cuz they want it to be dynamic with their CMS , so all the navigation ( top part ) would be animated in flash.

    what do you think ?
    :)

nice colors and layout. i like the lil pixel icons. but i would not reccomend using that picture of a broken highway or something.
"our business is like a broken bridge" great message.

    on the quick sight:
    looks pretty tight to me
navigation has a little nervous optic for med with alle the dots, edges.
REALISATIONS an d SUBMENU font are overlapping get more space in there

body: text alignment pretty bad - but i guess thats just on the mock right!? :)
maybe get rid of the dotted line on between the two cells - distorts everything a little bit.

anyway - good job and good luck

The navigational area looks too busy. There seems to be overkill in the number of elements, crowding the space and thus, making it seem a little to confusing. You're using a washed out grey arrow on a similiar coloured background to highlight the on state of a menu item, it's not working...i'd introduce another colour...red perhaps? The right hand side menu items are getting lost on some of the images as well.

I'd drop the small pixelated white arrows and those red blocks, they're a stylistic element that makes no sense. Appropiate from the logo if you want to introduce some sort of shape, colour..etc.

The layout is working although i'd be tempted to revert to a left hand second menu system, keep it functional.

The imagery is good. I can see where you're going with the highway construction however a better shot might be needed, the one used looks more 'derelict'.

A good start and a little refinement and you'll be there.
    Nice 1.

yes the logo is different , they want to change the logo just a little bit , i didnt have their final version so i took a beta screenshot of their upcoming new logo and copy pasted it over my composition ... i dont know if the final one will look like this or not , but it shouldnt be alot different.

    thanks for comments :)

    ldww :
Very true about the broken highway i will remove it :)
    thanks

    Luke:
-ok , i wanted realisation and submenu to overlap , i kinda like it that way.. but i understand what you mean
-What can i do to fix the text alignment ? why is it pretty bad ? help ! :)
-I kinda like the dotted line between the 2 cells too , there wasnt one before and i didnt like how the 2 cell were so i tried alot of things and the one i like better was with a simple dotted line .. is it really that bad ?

    thanks

    Bluejam :
woah thats some crit u got there ! eheh thanks.
-I agree there is alot of stuff going on in the nav menu , do you think giving more space in between words and adding some kerning would make things better ?
-I agree on the arrow , in fact it wasnt supposed to be there i just forgot to close the eye in photoshop.
    - About the red blocks , it was an attempt to get some attention to the logo , i didnt want the logo to be directly over the image , by adding color beneath it , it gets some focus ?
    - what do you mean by reverting the left hand second menu ?
    - im getting rid of broken highway :)
    thanks

"-I agree there is alot of stuff going on in the nav menu , do you think giving more space in between words and adding some kerning would make things better ? "

    - yes. however...

"- what do you mean by reverting the left hand second menu ? "

    - instead of having the second level navigation sit under the main navigation, move it to the left hand side and stack it vertically.

This would use the space you have already in this layout more effectively, and help you balance out/align the body copy and provide more space for the main navigation.

  • Louno0

im not sure i understand , when you say left hand side , do you really mean to the --> right side ? ... cuz .. there aint no space to the left ... and anyways its already to the left ...

soo i guess when you say to the left u mean right , so what you are suggesting is take the Realisation/submenu block and align it with the Developpement application block ? meaning the 'R' from Realisation would be aligned on the same margin as Developpement , so the 'D' and the 'R' would be right under each other ?
    simple as that ?

Any more comments ? im gonna make some modifs after this and upload new pics later ...

First off I like your use of color and the layout of the design. The graphics in the body area are nice as well.

I agree with the subnavigation comment. It is the weakest part of the design. Watch the visual hiearchy (font sizing aminly) of the type as well as the spacing. Currently it is too busy and difficult to read. Not sure if moving the subnavigation to the left is the solution. This may upset your overall layout.

In the body content area, make the titles the same distance form the begin of their respective areas. The content layout is difficult to read. Create colored bullets to add more color and make sure the the line wrapping is indented too.

I hope that make sense as I typed that very fast.

    Have a good weekend.
