Excellent, excellent band. Their new album is majestic, emotional, dark, joyous, too many things wrapped into one.
It's one of those albums you don't want to tell people about in a way. I think I only listen to it by myself or with my girlfriend.Definatly check out Mogwai, and Godspeed You Black Emperor. Also look for some stuff called Boxhead Ensamble, it's a live recording (a few versions available) all instrumental from a screening across Europe of a silent documentary about an Alaskan fishing village. Never seen the video but the cd is amazing, good sleeping music.
I kick myself daily for missing Sigur Ros when they were last in Chicago, and they're not coming here on the current tour.

I thought Godspeed's new one was weak. The other two are great.
Mogwai is releasing a new one!

Gus Gus is also pretty good, they did a few remixes for Sigor. i actually worked on Sigor's web store. cool shirt design's.

Mogwai and Sigor did a track together.
- Bio0
i dont think so Mal.
there was an mp3 floating around called that, but it turned out to be by some goofball.the track sucked balls anyway.
saf (lifeinsodium) told me about that after i tried explaining that i had the mp3. heheh. i was all excited too.

sigur ros is quite possibly the single most moving group of musicians i've ever heard/felt/saw/experienced
i was having a pretty shitty morning today and i wandered outside of school onto the commons and just laid down, looking up at the white clouds moving by.. all this, while listening to their first track on ()
moving. quite moving.

I see Bio, We must be (ahem) borrowing music from the same place.

another couple of bands to check out (different style, but may appeal to the same kind of listener) are burnt friedman and fourtet. more electronic, but very cool.
- Duane0
great video from previous album. 26.1M download.

Agreed on how moving they are. I've only seen one live performance, they played on the Carson Daley show a few weeks ago, played the first song off of (), I woke up on the couch just at the beginning, it was almost surreal.
I think all the time how, whenever I'm getting married someday, I want that song to play instead of that traditional wedding march song.
See, Sigur Ros do right what too many others do wrong. They find that vibe of sound and capitalize on that alone, when a song is in the right moment it seems to go on forever. How many songs do you hear that sound great, they're emotive, and then there's some change in them that you realize doesn't fit at all? That's what I'm talking about.
Too many people sort of say that "the album ( ) and they're whole act is contrived and such" because he's singing in a made up language, there are no song titles, etc. I think the way the album is open to interpretation is pretty amazing. There are sounds in that album that fit so perfectly, just captivating.
I hate that I missed seeing them
